Alternatives to the original story
[after taking artifact] Act - 5 The Planets Core- The Planets Plates are suddenly shifting [earthquake] Magma starts to spew,After futher investigation, a vehicle containing robots or [maybe just a single machine or robot] is disrupting the core. dig to it [complex] and destroy it - [robots attack bunker].
[On failure] Act - 7 crash landing! shuttle [with brain] goes out of control. [high atmos] have to land it and live [impossible to 'soft' land have to level out ship]. Native [geat- kinda like slime [off-white color]] aliens begin to devour and multiply on the ships metal. Hold them back, until rain dissolves them. Afterwards reastablish contact with the survivors, repair ship and head to moon.
I have a couple more, that arn't finished. I'm eager to hear what other people have as Ideas.

I was wondering what on earth it was about until I realised you were using ['s instead of ('s, and putting them all over the place.
Your stories are... okay, I guess. But I much prefer CC's actual story- I love the way that a bunch of profiteering gold-diggers almost have their asses handed to them on a plate by a planet's defense system.

I think we should have a campaign builder...
Anyway... I have a totally different story idea:
Basically, it's your typical OMFG ALIEN ATTACK'N! Type story that would start before the "Cortex" brain control system was developed. Starts with
1. Mining Facility AX-22
This is for basic training and intro to the game's controls... suddenly, a HUGE monster attacks. Your mentor stays behind to kill the monster but dies and as the dropship carrying all the clones off the base flys off, you see the base explode. Note that there is no part of you commanding other clones in this part.
2. Space Station 55
Here you are also trained on advanced weaponry and ballistics. You also learn to fly a dropship. You are then deployed to another mining facility with some advanced special weaponry designed to kill the monster.
3. Mining Facility XY-18
Here, you and your squad are deployed at various stations in the base and as night falls, the monster comes again. You and your comrades blast it, but the weapons do barely any damage. The base starts evacuating and you and your squad are slowly picked off one by one. Before you are killed, the monster crashes through the base and a dropship picks you up again. As you fly away, the self-destruct is activated and the facility explodes.
4. Mining Facility XY-18 Revisited
You and your new squad discover that the monster had survived the explosion and has walked away. You must salvage any gold left in the facility and return to the Space Station.
5. Mining Facility BE-99
Armed with new, more powerful weapons, you and your squad once again are deployed at a mining facility. The monster once again returns and this time, your weapons do have more of an effect on it. You blast off its head, and it falls backwards. Inside, you hear glass shattering. Pulling off its skin you reveal a brain. Thus begins the story of Cortex Command.
So yeah, it's kinda like a prequel.

AND SUDDENLY THE BRAIN EXPLODES WHILE YOUR FLYING AWAY!
lmao sorry i couldn't resisit, i think you would only be able to pull off one "o ♥♥♥♥ o ♥♥♥♥ GO!!!!!!!!!" facility blowing up thing without being corny. But still kind of a neat idea. I actually have no idea what the official story is because i don't wanna ruin the surprise but i agree we should have a campaign builder. It could link levels together, the problem would be the cinematic things in between, maybe it'd have to be like pictures and just scrolling text, nothing that could really move *unless you know how to make that =p*

sort of off-topic....but space levels would be awesome if they were included... Like... in orbit around the planet (there would be fractional gravity) and you can mine asteroids and stuff. Maybe this could be included in the story somehow? (Destroy an orbital station that keeps killing people on the planet?)

Clone: Mining, mining...mining....OHSHI-- MONSTER!
Clone2: RUN!
*Major evacuation*
Clone2: ...Think it's safe now?
Clone: Yeah.
*repeat several times*
Clone3: OHSHI- MONSTERS AGAIN!
Clone: Damnit!
Clone2: Why do we keep going back?
Clone: I was led to believe that monsters evaporate.
Meh, who said clones are smart.

mm.. Do clones have their own will? Or do they even have any kind of emotions?
Since your player is tha brain... and it controls everyone you own with the implant controlling things.
