Delving deeper
So... I've never played this game for very long, since my one friend refuses to play it with me until it's more finished. So I'd always assumed that the tough red rock at the bottom of the screen went down a long distance, was very tough to get through, and was eventually replaced by solid rock or something-- which, in turn, would CONTINUE to go downwards, but be extremely difficult to tunnel through even with a Heavy Digger. Maybe it would even go on forever.
Anyways, I tested my theory yesterday, and discovered that the red rock is like two inches thick, after which there's just an invisible floor at the bottom of everything.
LAAAAME. :P
It would be super cool even if the red rock was followed by solid rock, and then SUPER solid rock... with maybe like, gold veins in it. So it would take Herculanean efforts to get to the bottom, and the rewards for doing so would be somewhat substantial. I'm imagining a kind of Metroid-ish (for NES or SNES) feeling to it, like you're getting deeper and deeper below the planet surface... as opposed to right now, where it's like... "sweet, I'm two centimetres below my base. Now what?"
I mean, your game is obvously the bomb shaznat, and I totally understand if you ignore me and keep making other stuff awesome instead. But maybe, just maybe, you're like me... and you enjoy Metroid. :| Or something.
H'ok, well, "discuss". ;)

I like the idea, it would make CC like motherload from miniclip.
BUT!
-All possible attacking bots would fall into your almost bottomless pit.
-The main goal is to kill the opposing brain.
-Not many ppl are that fond in digging.
(maybe sometype ''collect the resources'' game type could work though)
BUT!! 2x
-The idea of having more valuable recources deeper is interesting.
-Some type of random volatile gasses that explode if you dig it and such.

Well it's not like it's compulsory to dig right down. It' s just there if you want to.
I think this is quite a good idea as long as it's not too extravagant. Just having the rock get stronger and stronger, perhaps until it's indestructible, would suit me.

That's the first thing that i thought of. I think it would be a great idea. Maybe after getting to the more solid rock, you could have more tools available like some explosives to loosen the rock. That might be a bit too detailed, but still pretty nifty.

Damn you! Now I have to go make your idea into a map (it will take awhile and won't have too many layers) Well time to start working on this.

Dude, it's Motherload from XGenStudios. Miniclip is just a host for the game. And XGen definitely deserves a lot of credit for their game.
That, and the more area the game has to keep track of, the more lag there is. But I like it. Maybe make some kind of underground mode where the brain is buried really deep...

Agreed. the game is alot more fun when your brain is protected heavily because it makes it an hour long blaster, with awesome moments. also, when you go underground deeper and deeper, you can have more gold to mine, instead of exauhsting all the current minerals, which has been done many times.

I always thought magma would be a good way to stop people going any further.

Having a deadly magma pool at the bottom is a really freaking cool idea! (has flashbacks of Lemmings)
Imagine dropping in a large mining vehicle with a sizable drill on the front, and heading down there. More plentiful gold deposits might make it worth it, but going down too far could send you and your expensive driller into the magma.
I think those two gameplay features would complement each other well. You'd feel inclined to get down there to get the mega bucks, but it's more risky the deeper you go. (This might also become an attractive means of sabotage against other players. If your opponents expensive machines are all down there just above the breaking point of the lava pit, there would be some potential to set up some explosives and greatly damage the operation.)
Regardless, once the game supports multiplayer (and doors finally get implemented to prevent rushing the brain ) I bet we're going to see a lot more underground and surface fighting.
It will be interesting to see what sort of air-surface-underground joint strategies people come up with.

It's be great BUT it'd be really odd when you think about it.
The planet you play one is very very very small, are we not agreed
To have it deep defies all of physics and just universe stuff.
But it'd be well cool

I dunno... the title screen makes that world seem pretty big... I don't think tere is a problem with making the maps deeper, but I wouldn't be diggin' down there unless the diggers somehow got handier.
Also, about gas pockets and stuff... I remember something in the storyline description about mutant space moles? Gotta have some of those roaming around!

or you could change the wrap y from 0 to one so you could dig forever.
But not be able to spawn ships.

Well I like the idea, but the world shouldn't go too big.
Maybe there could be like more worthy gold pockets and stuff. jewels, as suggested before..
Would be nifty!
