Post Re: The Riggers - Army idea
They're more like extra-dimensional beings than standard aliens. Human concepts have left their mark on the Riggers, having seeped into the Fracture, but I did originally imagine them using force-edged chainsaws. In fact, I imagined their projectiles would leave the barrels of their weapons coated in a sheath of force energy to allow them to penetrate armor better. When I'm talking force, I don't mean Like, Jedi force. Like the force energy used in force fields or screens.

With these creatures, we've gone way past realism. This higher intelligence that created them is an entity known as the Fracture. It is a malicious sentient energy with godlike power that resides in its very own reality and sustains itself on the negative emotion of sentient beings. The Fracture is unfortunately trapped within its reality and has to create creatures to do its bidding. It is able to create lifeforms by condensing its energy in a special way and is able to spit these creatures into other realities to cause chaos and mayhem through small pathways that only form in areas with an abundance of powerful negative emotion, like as an example, the site of a genocide. These creatures, I call Fractals are unfortunately limited as they have to feed off the Fracture's energies to stay alive and thus can't stray very far from the Fracture's pathways. The Riggers are a unique strain of Fractal. They do not need to constantly feed off the Fracture's energies allowing them to exist independently of their creator, allowing them to do its bidding without interruption. The Fracture made sure to predispose them to be violent and sadistic, engraving this onto the very energy they were created with along with their profound knowledge of technology. They never stopped serving the Fracture, but they're still independent of it. That is the more in depth description of the Riggers' origins.

k, it makes 4000x more sense now lol.

The reason I suggested a sort of spear is that they seem like the sort of creatures who'd love to impale something and pressure-cook it from the inside out so suddenly that it's chest explodes from boiling and gas pressure before it even has a chance to die.
Thus, a piece of heated metal, possibly vibrating quickly.

Or perhaps nail gun of sorts, that shoots a rocket propelled impalement thing that sticks into walls, effectively dragging the guy along with it.

I would love to see that happen but unfortunately it can't be done. I think the riggers should have an assassin unit with some kind of sniper rifle/crossbow. The body type could be like the jackals from Halo but darker and far more sinister.

Sniper rifles are really hard to deal with I've found. They really either really work or they really don't, even when you make them powerful. My Sniper is damn powerful, yet it still sometimes tends to not pass all the way through a standard's head, which results in no damage. So it just hits with a thud. The annoying thing is that if you try to make a sniper explosively powerful by having it fire multiple shots at once, (very accurately so it seems like one) either all shots go through, or none of them do. Apparently the penetration is calculated all at once for ever bullet/slug in a group of things fired at once, instead of individually for each one. So multiple shots doesn't actually increase the chances of something going through to do at least some damage. It's bad for shotguns, too, since if one piece of shot gets stopped, they all do, even if they land in different places on the same body part. As for different body parts, I don't really know.

Take a look at my one. (sig)
That shoots like 5 bullets, all of which aren't that sharp.

It'll kill a coalition trooper in 1 HS (unless it hits helmet), and usually goes straight through, which looks awesome.
Keep in mind, you don't want the bullet to go through 1 metre of dirt, because that's just stupid.

Whoops. Sorta forgot about CC for a bit. I played with the TC Rifle some time ago and discovered it gibbed unarmored torsos. I didn't notice this before because I was always aiming at the head. I think the weapon is fine where it is. Numgun's Marines are pretty much what I was wanting with the Tinkerers. Fellows in bulky powered combat armor. They would have shootable heads of course. His Marines are crazy difficult to kill without excessive firepower.

I think the Tinkerers should be like, half flesh half machine, grafted limbs and such.
And armour plating left right an centre, but not indestructible.

That's actually more like Surgeons. They're the only ones have cybernetics grafted willingly, except of course the High Tinkerer. I'm thinking perhaps one day, instead of a brain there'd be a High Tinkerer.

I was thinking more along the lines of a strange, dark reddish crystal that was surrounded by attached machinery and tubes and whatnot that had to be destroyed piece by piece.
Basically, a kind of weird thing which allows the Fracture to assume control by creating a gap in reality.

Hm. That's a particularly interesting concept. I'll roll the idea around in my brain to see if it fits, although I don't see why it wouldn't.
It all seems to be on hold at present though. Those that have been helping me are busy with other things. It's not like they need to work on something that isn't theirs anyway. Hell, I'm overjoyed with the amount that was accomplished by the voluntary effort, and it's all still very much appreciated.

Updates to the mod can't be made on your mod page unless you get an admin to change the attachment, I still haven't bought a new hard drive yet.

I'm liking these new ideas though. If only I could sprite

Here's a little concept sprite. I like the wings, personally, but I need better coloring on the crystal and I need to improve the base, because as of now it's pillow-shade city.
Fractal = Fracture + Crystal. Oh, how witty and creative I am.
Plus, if you get enough of these in one place, terrible demons from the cenneroftherf. Or just an aspen leaf.
