Game direction
so I've been playing cortex command and following since like 2006. where is this game headed? is anyone still working on it, or has it been abandoned. i also bought planetoid pioneers, didn't like it as much as Cortex Command.

Re: Game direction
There's something discussed for this year, but I can't talk about it.

Re: Game direction
I imagine Data has no plans for CC anymore. The only thing I've seen change this year is the removal of the video that was in response to the negative reviews at 1.0 release. If there is anything planned, I'm sure it's going to be made mostly or entirely from the volunteers' work again.

Re: Game direction
Well, no matter whether the original team keeps working about the game or not, it's - as far as I understand - relatively easy to mod, and as such, it has an infinite lifespan. It's like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, the first game came out in 2006 and the last one in 2010, but the community is very active and keeps creating new mods and doing fan art of that game. Hell, even 1997 vintage Total Fugging Annihilation still has quite the following after more than two decades!

Re: Game direction
Happy new year.
There was a planned announcement for CC going open source. I'm not entirely sure how official of an announcement there is, but news is out in public already.

Re: Game direction
Well that'll be great when it happens I guess. First thing that will be jumped on is making online multiplayer most likely. If pulled off successfully, CC will get some of it's 2009 popularity back.

Re: Game direction
Good news everyone. Some totally experimental stuff is actually happening with CC right now. It's in deep deep closed alpha testing phase, but may see the light of day eventually.

Re: Game direction
Good news indeed. Eventually as in - before or after Half-Life 3 is released?

Re: Game direction
Yeah somewhere in between Stalker 2 and Half-Life 3. But now, you can PM me if you really want to mess with some buggy unstable dev builds or request features and bugfixes.
