EVENTS:

Eigla and Klimt go explore, while the others stand guard near the door.

None of the screens or computers seem functional, if only for lack of power. Klimt even presses a power button, eliciting disapproving looks from the shieldmaiden, but nothing happens.

They then visit the other rooms, one by one.

The WC room is a large bathroom, with a multitude of stalls and decontamination showers. Spartan, but functional. Testing a sink, there is still running water, though the pressure is not great. There are a few sealed bags of toilet paper in a locker, in surprisingly good condition.

The conference room is large and oval-shaped, with a large table and enough chairs to hold a meeting. There is a portable holoprojector on the table, and the battery light is, amazingly, still on.

The storage room contains cleaning supplies, vaccuum-packed MREs (maybe still edible? Only one way to know...), as well as survival tools, bottled water and weatherproof ponchos. There is also a large amount of decayed paperwork in cardboard boxes, and a few holo-canisters.

The maintenance room contains extensive electrical panels, switches and gauges, though most seem unmoving. The REACTOR UNDERTEMP indicator is one of the few who are lit, blinking angrily between red and green.

You notice a crank-started diesel generator plumbed to a wall, with the words EMG. STARTUP stenciled onto it.

EVENTS:

Eigla makes a point of ignoring Klimt as she goes check the holoprojector. The power switch is a bit stiff, but functional, and the machine lights up as she flicks it.

A pixelized, wobbly power indicator starts to float in the middle of the room, indicating 18% charge.

There is a foam-lined bag by the projector, containing four glass vials filled with some sort of organic substance, as well as a metal connector on the end. Is that the storage media these people used?

The vials are labeled: ENEMY RECOG - LASTSCAN.MP78 - OPERA_BDAY - INSTRUCTIONAL



Meanwhile, Rosa opens one of the MREs and tastes it.

Eugh. Tasteless, sticky and unpleasant. Still edible, though.

EVENTS:

Eigla distributes the ponchos to the rest of the party. Rosa and Klimt enjoy the chance of regaining a bit of modesty, Peggy stuffs the spare poncho into her rucksack, while Emilia wears hers as a sarong.

The shieldmaiden then picks up the INSTRUCTIONAL vial. The Flesh inside looks a bit unhealthy, but it still fits in the projector.

THE UNDEAD AND YOU - AN INSTRUCTIONAL ADVENTURE

Static, a few beeps, then the overexcited announcer's voice starts blaring again, and an image of one of the zombots shows up.

-THE NEW PROJECT - INCLUSION OF REANIMATED TROOPS IN OUR RANKS - VICTORY *bzzzzzt* ASSURED!

However, there are a few simple techniques one must know to make the transition as smooth as possible!

ONE! The undead are not people! For all intents and purposes, they are organic automatons! They feel no pain, fear, or any other emotions!

Remember - Even though they might have the face of someone you know, they are NOT that person! The enemy has been known to send undead troops with simulated personalities, as a way to demoralize *crackle* *static* - even the semblance of innocent civilians or young children! Engage them without mercy, for *zzzzap* war machines!


TWO! The undead do not think! Unless in the presence of a *bzzzzt*-ified HANDLER, their automated processors will react to orders literally and directly! Speak to them clearly, as you would to a voice recognition device, to obtain the best results!

THREE! Stay alert for starved undead! If a soldier hasn't been supplied with their ration pack for over *beep*, they might become unresponsive and, on occasion, intractable! If you see an allied soldier present - *crackle crackle crackle* - unfocused eyes, profuse salivation, or any of the signs described in your COMBINED SOLDIER'S PRIMER, do not make any aggressive movement towards it! Instead, immediately alert your assigned HANDLER, or in their absence, your commanding officer!

FOUR! The HANDLERs are your friends! It is only through their special training and augmentations that we are able to wield the undead so effectively in battle! They might seem cold, or distant at first, but - *long static* - like you and me! Observe!


What follows is a long, grainy video of a short figure in full body armor commanding a group of zombies to complete a series of complex tasks. It takes you some time to realize the footage is now looping.

Seems like that's it for this vial. The battery meter is now at 12%.
