Mary smiles as well. Rosa helps hold the fleshy tube as the shepherdess cuts the last few connections, extracting Radiohead's entire GI tract up to the duodenum.

Mary: "Alright, we'll connect this in parallel with mine. If you, uh, look under my throat, I've already cut a hole to fit it in. Just, remove the little patch I put there, and use this thread to sew it all together, okay? Afterwards, we'll deal with the other end."


Eigla finishes carving the crossbow stock. It's... A bit crude, but should work well enough!


Klimt: "As long as I'm here. With my record in fights, I don't know how long that will be."

Peggy: "I-I don't care. For as long as I can, I'll be right where I am. You can try to run or push me away, but I won't let go!"

She buries her face deep into his chest, eyes still red from crying.

EVENTS:

Eigla unceremoniously walks into the tent and places the crossbow on Peggy's back. There is a brief, awkward moment of silence.

Eigla: "Crossbow stock. Needs bow."

She walks out.

Peggy: "Well. I guess that makes it official."

Peggy nuzzles against Klimt EVEN HARDER, covering him in her exposed entrails' mucus coating. AWKWARD.


Meanwhile, Rosa manages to sew the esophagus, despite her less than dexterous hands.

Rosa: "Why do you need a second stomach?"

Mary: "Well. For starters, there's a practical reason. Food spoilage is a big problem for me during winter, so it'd be useful to be able to eat more, and less frequently. Second, every extra part I have makes me a bit safer in case I get hurt. Backups are useful!
Finally, that doll is probably the most valuable thing I own, after my flock. What safer place to store her than inside me?"

She finishes attaching her stomachs together, then carefully removes the doll's guts.

Mary: "Okay. Now, let's extend both my small intestine and my colon. Hold this for me while I cut it to length?"

Eigla walks back into the house.

Klimt: "Official?

So Eigla made you something. Sweet, huh? Do you think you could get the limbs, the string?"

He tries to squeeze her once to convince her to let go, but it only makes her grip even tighter.

Peggy: "Yeah, like- She's gonna go tell the others, right? So... we don't have to hide it.

...You've been in my mind. I-I don't need to tell you how I feel, do I?

Also I'm not doing any of that right now. I'm staying like this, with you."


Rosa: "Eigla. What's next."

The two dolls help Mary systematically transfer nearly all of Radiohead's organs into herself. Heart, lungs, liver, kidneys... The works, really. It's not very easy to make them all fit.

Mary: "Hmmm. I'll probably need to take some of her skin and abdominal wall, too, otherwise I'll never manage to close myself up.

You know. This girl, she's quite short, but... Her assets are not that bad."

There is a slightly awkward pause before she speaks again.

"...So. You know Klimt, right? What does he... Like? In a woman, I mean? Just for curiosity's sake."

Mary: "...You think so? Well, I could install an extra pair, if-"


You hear Eigla talking loudly from outside the house.

Eigla: "Klimt. What do you like in women?"

Mary blushes and makes a panicked sound suspiciously similar to a bleat.

Mary: "-AAAAAAAA DON'T ASK HIM"

Klimt: "I just want a true friend - someone kind and smart, who's going to face this horrible dead world with me, with dignity.

Uh, why do you ask? What is going on?"
