It's weird to think about, isn't it? That we're on a ball of rock hurtling through space at millions of miles an hour

I'v always loved space never really understood why we didn't invest more research into it, unless we are and I just don't know it

Re: The Lounge
That's an interesting question. At least over here in Chile, there's lots of astronomy stuff going on, but we don't really invest too much in technology/scientific research at all, so there's just some small projects going on like satellites, most big projects are large observatories, which sucks a lot.

Re: The Lounge
You can only record so much through the observable.
We have no technology or theories to harness anything above the speed or light, or even if we did, would warp gates really let us fly through space on another level where we can have no running into object issues, or maybe the other dimension we travel too, how will we get out if we have no data of even going there.
This is real, depressing, life. Not a movie.

Re: The Lounge
So summer sale is arrving shortly to Steam. I wanna get Witcher 3, and maybe some other random stuff. But I'm mostly doubtful about one thing, since my budget is pretty limited, I'm thinking about what would be better, getting Enemy Within DLC for X-Com or buying X-Com 2.
The DLC is pretty cheap in comparison, it does add a lot of content, and most importantly it gives access to the mod Long War. X-Com 2 is an entire new game though, lots of new stuff, but the price makes buying more stuff complicated. Best case scenario, super discounts for everything and I get both. But if that doesn't happen and I just have to buy one, which would be a better option?

Re: The Lounge
The DLC adds a lot, but it doesn't play all that differently. X-Com 2 feels different to play, and I think it's the better option if you have to choose personally.

I'm gonna aim for X-Com 2 then, after thinking it for a while, I have made already a few playthroughs of the first one, so the replay value I'm gonna get isn't going to be as big as if I got X-Com 2. I'm just hoping for big discounts D:
Mackerel do you want me to google that for you?

So yesterday I won something and I'm going to not so humbly brag about it.

First price 2016 3ME Designcontest
It's for the bicycle powered(we're Dutch after al) waterpump I designed and then built with my group over the last few months and then tested against those created by other groups. We may not have set the fastest time(although we could have if the tv reporter didn't accidentally kick one of our axles right before the finals) but our(my) design was considered the most inventive of those present. I actually thought up a solution to a common problem with this type of pump(pulsed output pressure) that had only been patented 2 years ago. http://www.google.com/patents/US20140010698 As a group we went from fighting about who got to take home the pump to who got to take home the trophy since the pump will now forever reside in the science centre's museum.
Gif explaining workings below.
Input is blue lobes seal off chambers at green output is pressurised because there is no backflow at red
