How long can a tendril and spirit last? How big is the range? Can they be left behind without the user?"

Karina: "Well. During the Caelum-Daeli war, D'Leo went on a campaign to wipe out the Daeli.

It's not really clear exactly how many of us are left, there could be living Daeli that are still in hiding. Down south is the last Daeli territory, there are about a hundred or so that have Captivate, and three that have Conquest, not including Suzanna who went who knows where.

The tendrils and spirits last as long as they're connected to you. Once they're disconnected or left behind or whatever, it's only be a matter of time until a reaper gets to 'em.

Range, it seems to vary among users, but Suzanna can cast a mile out, and my range about a quarter of that. Other conquest users have about half a mile. Range seems to depend on the person."

That is not clear to me, but they are on the other continent. Not a place you can reach quickly, but your primary goal should be eliminating the invisible ones, before they make the situation worse.

Running through the halls, you take turns here and there when Stahlnacht directs you to do so, until the flame light dies and you come to a halt, right at a four-way intersection of hallways.

There are sounds nearby, very nearby, in the hall to your left. Pounding on a door, the high-pitch scream of a focused flame, but no talking.

She's not moving enough that it would be difficult to pick her up, so that's an option if you're comfortable with holding a creature that tore off your skin by simply being in contact with you.

So, these invisible ones, are they just normal people? People working for the witches? Or commanding them? How can I possibly find them?

They are ones who take commands from an unknown source, and are unaffected by magic. All can disable magic, and some possess unique magic abilities.

Do you know any famous users of Captivate? Or, any interesting ways to use it? I can already see it being crazy useful for a Constructor, and you mentioned repairing flesh.
And... what are you going to do with the book?"

Unaffected by magic? Do you mean, nullifiers are the invisible ones? Fourths? That would mean...

Red, there are others like me, right? Ones you've, I guess, chosen? Can you tell me their names?

Targeting the spirit bound in Toh's head, you execute a Possession Break, easily separating the spirit from the physical body. As soon as it's off, you bind it to your memory stone fragment.

The body still writhes on the ground.

Karina: "There's someone who uses it for crude predictions. Project all the tendrils out to pull information, move back into a single spot and compile the information and determine what possible outcomes can occur in the next few seconds.

Another user can alter the light around her and become perfectly invisible.

Who else, umm. I've seen plenty of mundane uses, like neatly planting masses of seeds, sorting items, finding items.

As for the book, it will be stored in a secure container and moved to our headquarters. It would be much safer to simply burn it, but that leads to issues of whether or not it was actually destroyed or if it was given to someone and a decoy was burned.

Additionally, we will have to question Sanoa, somehow. Removing her from her anti-magic cell would be extremely dangerous because of her telepathy and more so if she read the book. Trying to inspect her mind with our own telepathy is not an option. I'm not much of a fan for torture, either."

The others are John, P'orihc, Kyeltziv, Ki'stha, and Wolf.

Ki'stha, P'orihc, and Wolf were expected to have a high chance of abandoning the cause.

"...Mm.
Ideally that'd describe the book's entire existence. But of course, now that anyone knows, everyone must know.
*sigh* Should've kept quiet and burned it in the first place. Now I have to break my promise. Not that I already haven't.
Can they not just read everyone in here for confirmation?"

There's been someone else. We've been working with a nullifier named Kleigg; he's been there from the beginning.

You round the corner.

A large team of chirop in armor and robes are by a metal door, one of them pounding on it with a metal hammer, the other trying to torch through the hinges with a jet of magic flame.

The ones closest to you instantly notice your presence and snaps her hand towards you, forming a shimmering barrier between you and the chirop.

???: "Identify yourself!"

Karina: "False memories can be forged and implanted. Now that we're aware a skilled telepath is involved in all of this, it makes it worse to outright the physical evidence.

And, assuming you don't go blabbering to anyone, knowledge of the book's existence should be limited to you, Lucida, Tara, Atra, Sanoa, and the Whitehawk. Assuming none of the information was leaked during the brief time you walked around with it unprotected.

I'll have to put several temporary safeguards on the information in your head that relates to the book's existence. The first layer prevents you from carrying out any action that would reveal the information, but you're still capable of thinking about it yourself. The second layer scrambles the information in a way that it's usable to you, but any other telepathy that tries to take a peak will just get gibberish. The third layer wipes the information if any of the two previous layers fail. When the book is in safe containment back at headquarters, we'll track you down to remove the safeguards.

So, are you ready? Or do you have more questions, since you obviously won't be able to discuss the matter when the safeguards are in place."

Based on what I've seen through others' eyes, he is most likely one of the invisible pieces that are working for the same force that commands the witches.

There are three other invisible pieces in the region, I am not sure what their motives are. Only two of them I've been able to indirectly observe and only for brief periods of time, and the other is either too isolated or too protected to observe.

Faren-Wuust: Whatever you do, be swift. The longer you leave the Schal, the more time it has to plan and recover.

Maybe... maybe there's a misunderstanding? Kleigg isn't perfect, but I can't imagine him condoning a slaughter on such a scale.
