You let Andrew off your back.

Telepath: Several scouting parties have been sent, but we don't have the means to deal with the leviathan. Yet.

You hurry through the city in a civilized manner, quickly making it to the capital building. The guards quickly let you in, and you're shortly in front of Elizabeth's desk. Several mages are standing by on one side of the room, and Liam is beside her. Torrent appears to be missing.

Elizabeth: "Alright, let's get down to business. What happened since the last time I saw you."

Faren-Wuust: Schals are known for being capable of growing back their bodies with just their cores, several other core beasts can do this as well.

"First and foremost, I'm 90% certain that the leviathan isn't the real enemy out there.
No I'm not crazy or concussed.
The real problem is the Ensi, the construct. According to several sources, the witches, dragon, and leviathan are all there to fight the Ensi, supposedly the very first witch and also an 'all consuming core beast'. They're all out there getting thrashed and outplayed by that construct, which was, according to Kleigg, a corrupted Leviathan-killer locked up in an upside down watchtower-castle thing. There's a damn good likelihood the witch is at the helm of that construct. So uh, please don't kill the Leviathan, we probably need it.

Actual report. Went to Mead with Lucida and Andrew, then over to Venari and past Gabel. Between there and Fluustern, a witch queen, Lauffeuer, the same one fighting the Ensi right now, came out from the woods and tried to pick a fight with Lucida. I talked her down thankfully. Kept going to Fluustern, met one of Lauffeuer's witchlings, it was friendly. Turns out the witch queen core Lucida was made from was Lauffeuer's 'mother', and her and her kin can all sense it, so they're uh, friendly to Lucida. More or less.
Got to Fluustern, talked to a lupus named Madenuuk, who Kyeltziv had been with. Turns out, he was sheltering some Heartstone subjects, got some information from them. One of the girls in a doll body came along, Aucupe, to help with the assault on Heartstone. Oh, she and another Heartstone girl, Monk, should be along shortly, they're running here on foot.
Regardless, also talked to another Lupus witch expert, Aandern, about Lauffeuer, he has a little witchling friend who isn't into the whole 'burn-kill-repeat' thing. After that, we got the message about Kyeltziv, so we decided to cut straight through the forest to Heartstone.
Near the end, found a cabin with an older Heartstone girl in it that Aucupe recognized, Null, and formed a plan there with her help. Around then is when the Ensi broke out, and the Leviathan woke up. We felt that. Went outside, saw a swarm of witches all heading east, talked to the friendly one I had met outside Fluustern, she said they were going to fight the Ensi alongside a dragon and a 'herald', part of an agreement, couldn't explain much more than that. So we all head north to Heartstone, not much we could do about the Leviathan. The actual assault on Heartstone was... rough.
We succeeded, with no permanent casualties on our side, in large part thanks to Null and Monk. Vandolf died for a bit, but he's fine now.
After reinforcements arrived, the resistance died down, and some of the facility was captured and researchers interrogated. The really important ones all locked themselves in a main bunker behind a damn strong door. We broke it with some creative magic, but by the time we got in...
They'd all... taken their own lives. And destroyed any materials in the main bunker. Notes, documents, machinery, all smashed and burned. Even the giant Heartstone creation machine, which I have a terrible suspicion converted lives into Heartstones, was destroyed. Only things left were a few newspaper clippings, the stock of Heartstones themselves, and a note from the director.
From there, I took a 20-case of the Heartstones and returned to Fluustern. The Heartstone girls under Madenuuk's care needed stones to do more than just be a walking doll, and I said I would help them. It also turns out that Madenuuk was a Lupus shaman who had a spirit passenger in the form of the late Madeline Rinehart, who wasn't going to leave his body until she got a doll body that would satisfy her, then she would be off to rebuild her kingdom with most of the Heartstone girls under Madenuuk's care. I agreed to give her an extra Heartstone so she could have her body, and she was very grateful to Vranhal. A total of 17 stones were left with Madenuuk, 3 here with me.
Finally, I checked back in with Aandern, asked him and his witchling friend about the Ensi. She didn't really know about any agreement to fight it, but she did explain that the Ensi was the first witch. From there, the rest of the pieces clicked together for me about the leviathan and the construct, and I double timed it back to Vranhal, only stopping at Venari to confirm that the construct was the real problem. Everything fighting out there has only been targeting the Ensi, and none of them have been able to hurt it, according to the Wolves.

So that's what's happened."

The guards let you through the gate and you use the key to let yourself in.

An empty, doorless room to the right, and ahead is a large living room of sorts, with a kitchen on the right (past the first room).

Stairs are to your left, and you head up to the second floor. Four bedrooms and a washroom, and it looks like all the bedrooms are taken already.

Well, you could use the empty room on the first floor, you guess.

Elizabeth: "We've noticed the strange behavior of the leviathan, witches, dragon, and construct, but we'll get into that matter soon enough.

Your assault on the Heartstone facility - did you encounter any of the facility's weaponized creations? When did reinforcements arrive?

Did you see how many Heartstones there were overall?

What were on the newspaper clippings? Do you have the director's notes?"

"Yes, we encountered the Heartstone products, six of them, in two different sets of armor. I'm not sure what powers they had were theirs and what was the armor, but they all could use Haste and kinetic flows, and had a heavy layer of explosive shielding on top. I would guess a large toolbox of offensive magic too, but they never used any. There were supposedly ten Products ready at the facility when we attacked, 4 were killed in the attack. Reinforcements arrived late into the battle, moments after the last of the 4 products were killed and one other had been removed from the fight. Once shock troopers started raining from the sky, the remainder just surrendered.
There was a stock of about 30 cases of 20, so around 600 Heartstones. Minus the 20 I took.
The newspaper clippings were mostly from Teleiat busts on breeder Hideouts, and how the girls rescued were taken in by the Teleiat government. Aka, Heartstone. There was one on the details of the teleportation accident on Quillion Street, which is what landed Emiel in prison. Though, after seeing that the chamber for creating Heartstones looks like it's built to withstand bombs, it seems more likely it wasn't a teleportation accident, but a Heartstone accident.
I have the note here. It's... Worrying."

She takes the note and reads over it.

Elizabeth: "What is so horrible that you can't even write it down in your suicide note?"

Setting the note on her desk, she clasps her hands and lets out a sigh.

Elizabeth: "With Linna and Caelum forces securing the Heartstone facility, we can focus on the next objective - retrieving Emiel.

You're wanted by the Whitehawk for some reason, go see what they want and return when you're done and I'll discuss the details with you and your team.

Any questions that can't wait until later?"

You head back downstairs, flop on the couch, and let yourself drift off into the darkness of sleep.

A woman is sitting in a padded chair beside a large window, looking out at the sea. Her details are obscured by the haziness of the dream and you can't see her face, but you have a hunch you've seen her before.

It's already happening. They're making their moves.

Your vision shifts to that of a far-away city. Walls like Vranhal, but miles of villages and farms on the outside, and towering human buildings within.

With your view high in the air like an eagle, you can see three entities approaching the city from the North, South, and West.

One of them resembles a massive, white hawk with a dozen red eyes and a long, lustrous black beak, blasting apart human mages with kinetic blasts and incinerating them with super-heated beams of light.

Another is a figure twice the height of a man, concealed in a tattered black cloak with only its numerous red eyes visible under its hood. The creature blinks in and out of existence, teleporting around while ripping apart humans and buildings with its dual black blades.

The last resembles a children's spinning top - a round, wide conical object with a pointed bottom, with the sides of the object appearing cloth-like. The top is a forest of black blades that sit packed together. The object simply floats several feet above the ground, moving towards the city at a constant speed. When several divisions of mages and soldiers approach, it turns inside-out with the cloth-exterior pulling down and hundreds of blades attached to organic fleshy arms launch outward, impaling several people before all the limbs retract and the object reverts back to its previous form. The blades all spin in alternating directions like a hundred blender rotors, mincing the caught bodies and spraying gore across the land.

A single voice commands the witches, working towards an outcome that will end us all.

You leave the building and head south, quickly finding the village of white tents set up in the fields. Countless men and women occupy the temporary settlement, all wearing white robes with the same emblem on their backs.

One of them approaches you.

Whitehawk: "Can I help you?"
