"I... I guess, yeah. What are you gonna do with it? It seems to be fairly benign."

Amelia: ”Show the Maria girl?”

She walks up to the mini-stage.

Amelia: ”I think I found the artifact already.”

Maria: ”What?

What is it?”

Amelia: ”This hat.”

She takes off the beret and hands it to Maria.

Amelia: ”It lets the wearer read and speak French. I haven’t figured what bad things it does yet.”

Maria puts on the beret.

Maria: ”Huh, ça fonctionne vraiment.”

She gives the hat back.

Maria: ”I’ll need to bring it to the club room to figure out what exactly it does. After fourth block… Not that I’ll be particularly busy before then.”

Amelia looks around the cafeteria, now severely depopulated.

Amelia: ”I don’t think classes would go on with only… Thirty people left?”

Maria: "Um, sure!"

Maria: "Well, how dangerous an artifact can be is usually directly related to how powerful it is. There are minor artifacts we've come across that have weak abilities, and the side effects are either minor and safe or nonexistent. The whole thing about artifacts being deadly is more of a warning towards the stronger ones that might be out there."

Maria: "Well, to answer both questions - I found an artifact that lets me predict dates, which helped me survive them. It's a wooden bowl, could fit over my head, with some fancy carvings. Once you fill it to the top with blood, the bowl 'drinks' almost all of the blood, and leaves blood-letters on the bottom of it. You can ask the bowl pretty much anything, but the answers are extremely vague. Date predictions are only dates, no other information on what they might be."

Maria: "Human blood. I use mine, specifically. Not a fun job, predicting dates."

The pasta is pretty good. Not gourmet, but it's warm and tasty. Alfredo sauce.

Rana: "Yeah."

Rana slowly gets up and grabs a few wrapped sandwiches, and then gets back to her seat and drops them on the table for everyone to grab. Rhea grabs one and after quickly opening it, starts taking small bites.

Rhea: "So. What do we do to prepare for tomorrow?"



You grab a wrapped sandwich and head back to your seat, first choking on it and then start crying.

A few kids from the other tables look at you - not that many people in the cafeteria to drown out the sound of your distress.

Maria: "The date that made it appear, there were, crazy ritual people. They kidnapped people and used them to feed the bowl until they died. We found out it answered questions by spying on them."
