You grab a case, verifying that all 20 stones are inside.

Caelum Black Mage: "Yeah. Ripped the inside back panel open, to get access to the construct wiring, and the ♥♥♥♥' pieces were all scrambled. I felt something rattling around right after launch, something must've torn off from the force. Had to dig around for the mana stone in the wreck and slow the thing myself. Guess it's a good thing it broke for me and not like a telepath or something."

I'm not sure how to pull it off, but what about a projectile that can redirect itself mid-flight, or relaunch once grounded. If we could do that, all the snipers would have to do is fire at the spot just behind the leviathan, and the bolts would launch themselves into its backside once in position. The snipers themselves wouldn't have to be behind it at all."

Those ♥♥♥holes totally knew we were gonna die on that launch."

Hey Monk, any pointers on how to use that kinetic speed move? I think I can figure it out on my own from seeing you, but maybe you've got a secret to getting it fast?

Tabi, do you think it would be worthwhile to make an attempt to go eastward again, to Magusalto or Vranhal? I would imagine Vranhal - a strong, militaristic state - might already be making preparations to mount an attack on the leviathan."

"I know that rune spells at least would be able to home in on the spirit, or core. So either a construct that somehow interacts with a rune spell, or a rune spell does all the heavy lifting redirecting it. Could have the user set a distance that it has to travel before homing in, so it can be angled into the back. Just a thought."

Caelum Black Mage: "I'd be surprised if they believed you would've lived."

Monk: Uh, make sure you move your entire body at once. Don't wanna leave anything behind, the speed difference could really mess you up. Other than that, just movefast, a uniform push on your entire body.

You grab some fish from the vendor - two coppers to a trout, might as well grab five. Tuhota eats like a manticore, no telling how much Horoma will devour.

Horoma: "Weird. Maybe my memories got a bit scrambled when I went under. What color are my eyes and hair supposed to be?"

Miimas: "Red and black."

Horoma: "Those seem right. Well, whatever. Let's go eat and then we can train more, I feel a bit pumped."

Tabi: "Vranhal, yeah. Though, I think I want to check out this place a bit, if you don't mind, and if they don't mind. Seems like a lot of tech here, even if a lot of it's wrecked."

Judith: "Even if it homes in on the spirit, how does it know how to get in between the cracks of the scales?

Wait - can you detect light with runes? I could like, point a beam to where it should go."

Riimuk: "Aye, it can detect light."

Judith: "Light-guided bolts. Though, we're still gonna need a hell of a lot of energy to steer those things."

Rauha, how fast do you think one of Vranhal's bolts would have to go to pierce the leviathan's softened armor?"

Sounds like my kinetic evasion. Thanks, Monk. What are you going to do now that you're out of here?

Rauha: "Extremely. Leviathans have to put in a great deal of effort to injure one another when fighting, even right after their barriers go down. Firing through a scale is not an option, unless if you're a witch with space alteration abilities.

The rapid regeneration that leviathans possess is a defense against powerful witches. Once the barrier drops, they're vulnerable even when cooled."

The two of you start poking around the current building, looking at the broken machines and purged offices.

One of them has various newspaper clippings that are intact.

Teleiat ITF Uncovers Another Breeder Hideout
The Investigative Task Force uncovered another breeder hideout yesterday, hidden in the forests to the south-west. "There were 54 of them, human girls kidnapped or bought off the blackmarket," said Iikua Konai, ITF Rank Leader. "It's saddening that there are still organizations that treat anyone not of their species as livestock. The Lupus trade still exists, human and chirop trafficking are well-established and have for centuries resisted efforts to shut them down, but that doesn't mean we're giving up." The children are being cared for in a government-run orphanage until a proper home can be found. In the mean time

That's all on this clipping. There are others that are the same - reports of breeding hideouts or organizations being busted, the girls being taken in by the Teleiat government.

One clipping, however, stands out from the others.

Teleportation Experiment Ends in Disaster
Earlier this morning, the entire block of Quillion Street was devastated by a failed teleportation experiment, officials reported. The area has been known for a while for its plunges into advanced magic experimentation, but the public was not aware until the accident that teleportation was an active project. Everything within a fifty meter radius was obliterated, and the shockwave of the "teleportation ripple" heavily damaged the surrounding area. There were no survivors in the fifty meter zone, and up to 20 casualties and 140 injuries further out. The man taking the blame is Matis Emiel, a well-known constructor among magic researchers. Playing a large role in the

The clipping ends there.

Tabi seems to be scowling at the first one.

Tabi: "So. Teleiat, too. And Iikua was more involved than I thought."

Monk: Travel a bit, I guess? Learn what I've been missing, get in some fights, that sorta thing. Then, travel west. Apparently the western plains are full of danger, perfect for someone who's been training for nine years.

You head up to the surface, finding Aucupe talking to a few of the freed girls beside a building. She still has some feathers attached to her doll body.
