"We could fire a projectile with a rune spell at the core, primed to detonate the instant it started getting farther from the leviathan's spirit. Could work if the position of its spirit is considered to be in the core, might need some testing. Would give us a good chance of hitting it. If it did work, we'd probably destroy the entire core, though. No risk, but nothing to bring home."

The lord takes her time reiterating Rauha's information, and then introduces or reintroduces everyone.

Gamaliel Suora, Magister, mage in a decorated red cloak
Charles Ruori, General of the Army, the man in armor
Judith Trovare, Lead Spotter, wearing the black robe and glasses
Riikuk, some runic-mage guy, pitch-black fur as you remembered him

Judith: "So, if you can actually detect that thing's spirit, and the spirit is the core, that solves the issue of actually figuring out where the core is, right? Put some spell together that highlights the location of the core so our snipers can see it."

Gamaliel: "I think we need to focus more on how we're supposed to get into position. Leviathans can cover land faster than anything we have, short of launching someone out of the Ballista Express... Is that a valid strategy?"

Elizabeth: "There's a bit of travel time in the way. Rauha, how long do the leviathan's scales stay soft for? Soft enough for a sniper shot."

Rauha: "I would say about five or ten minutes."

Elizabeth: "Should be enough time to air-drop someone into position. Problem is that those giant lizards move too fast to actually hope anything we chuck at it with a ballista will actually be close by the time the payload touches down. Even using Lucida to carry the sniper would be tricky."

Gamaliel: "Might have to guess where the leviathan will be in the time it takes for the snipers to hit land, and launch a sniper at every location."

Judith: "Sounds like a good way to get them all killed."

Gamaliel: "Just an idea."

Miimas: "Alright."

Miimas lets Horoma lean on her, and your group leaves the Whitehawk camp, standing in the open field for a moment.

Horoma: "I'm uh, a bit hungry."

Tuhota: "Wow, I was just thinking the same thing!"

"The Lucida matter will most likely all come out once it's resolved, but until then... Sorry.

As for Heartstone, we're pretty much here to make it public. Human experimentation is a way to put it. They've done a good job of destroying everything that could give us a clue about the details, but what they definitely were doing is producing spirits with boatloads of magic built in, then binding them to bodies and writing their memories to be good little soldiers.
Not really that reprehensible I suppose, except that the big buildings on the surface were dorms full of girls "rescued" from breeders. I don't myself know the details of what they had to endure, but it was bad enough that they were all kept in cells under anti-magic fields to prevent escape.
They were also doing... something down here. Everything's been destroyed, but a suicide note from the director leads us to believe it was somehow several times worse than all the stuff with the human weapon girls.

What about you Kleigg, what's the story behind your armor? What've you two been up to? I don't think you ended up coming here after we met."

TheKebbit wrote:
>Struggle to not appear completely dumbfounded by the pressence of Lucida.

"Well, Tabi, I guess that particular mission for the Spiral was rendered unnecessary. I'm quite happy about that.

My story is not very straightforward, but I can make an attempt. This is my associate Tabi, who has iron principles and is quick as a whip. She has a background in construct control that I think we will find extremely useful. The sword I carry is Hexestahl, containing the core of the witch queen Stahlnacht, who has been a faithful friend to us. Her core also currently contains Tabi's family, who are traveling with us for their safety. My armor, too, is witch metal - Stahlnacht has half-devoured me, and her flesh augments mine smoothly."

As he says "associate", Kleigg suppresses a grin.

TorrentHKU wrote:
"Ahh, sorry Kleigg, I think something's wrong with my armor, I heard you say you have a witch sword, and that Tabi's family was in it."
> Pop helmet open.
"What was that?"

TheKebbit wrote:
"Space-folding properties. You heard me correctly - they are literally inside my sword, and are currently establishing a farm.

I was given the blade in a dream. It positively reeks of prophecy, but I am unsure of what role to play."

TorrentHKU wrote:

"Alright, well, you win. I don't think I can compete with that.
What the hell have you been up to then? Running from the leviathan?"

TheKebbit wrote:
"Running. And gathering materials to make the core into a home."

TorrentHKU wrote:
"Huh. What were you up to before it showed up?"

Tabi, you said your a construct tinkerer? I'm sort of trying to learn the art myself, though I'm barely at newbie level. What've you made?"

Tabi: "Oh. Uh, mainly this thing. "

She pulls out a rectangular, flat-ish brick-like object. On the large top side there's some sort of light-based display made of small squares that light up or turn off to form letters and other imagery.

Tabi: "It's a construct that uses telepathy to link to the closest person, the user, and then locks on to them. The device can hook up to other constructs or you can attach modules to it, and use the construct by thinking. Sort of a way for magic-less people to cast magic."

Tabi: ”Uh, interface with constructs yes, triggering magic itself it needs a focus stone, multi-construct actions and pre-programmed sequences very yes, scan body and condition yes, input yes, feeding the what? Complex yes. Telepathy, long explanation.”

Kleigg pats Tabi on the shoulder.

Kleigg: "I'll leave you two to discuss, shall I? Unless you want to work out something esoteric like a null focus, I'm afraid I don't know much about this at all."

Tabi: ”We can, uh, talk along the way. Assuming we’re supposed to go with you. Are we going with him Kleigg?”

You pat Tabi on her shoulder with your beefy, witch-metal armored hand. That you can feel through!

I think we can do everything you can do. Telepathy and the basic heat stuff.

Your group heads into the city, looking for a food place.

It’s… A bit hard to find one now. It seems that they’ve all been cleaned out, and only the basic bread and vegetable stalls are open.

"Anythin' in paticular you fancy eatin'?"

Horoma: ”Meat. Steak, chicken, fish, drake, whatever.”

Tuhota: ”Me too! Those all sound good!”

Miimas: ”Wasn’t there that Full Control or whatever it was called? Seems like they got rid of a lot of meat vendors.”

Tuhota: ”Ooh! I see a fish one!”

Looks like there’re still a few fish vendors open.

Miimas: ”Wait, when did you change your clothes Horo?”

Horoma: ”Huh? Wasn’t I already wearing this?”

Looking at the young-adult Horoma form, she’s now wearing clothes that fit her size. Long black pants and shirt, and a black cloak, all in pristine condition.

Miimas: ”Uh, no. Your clothes got burned a bit and your shirt was white before.”

Horoma: ”Really? I thought I put a black shirt on. I mean, I’m wearing a black shirt, right?”

Judith: ”Sooo. How soon can we rescue Emiel?”

Gamaliel: ”So the plan for now is to wait?”

Elizabeth: ”Wait and prepare. Gather our top snipers, give ‘em a taste of the plan, build those runic bolts. And wait for Lucida.”
