"Hey there, I'm John. My friend Kyeltziv came through here a couple days ago, I came to check up on him. Then by chance I heard that you kids were involved in Heartstone. I'm actually investigating Project Heartstone right now, could you tell me more about it? Anything would be helpful."

She takes a while to respond, as if collecting her thoughts.

Belua: ”Project Heartstone’s goal is to make spirit weapons. Female spirits naturally incubate a spirit inside of them when the body is carrying a baby. Project Heartstone collects girls with unique or powerful abilities and forces them to produce a child spirit.

They then take the child spirits with differing abilities and slowly fuse them together, with the goal to form a single entity with great power, and then have it produce more copies.

The key to the project working is the heartstone - a component that allows a spirit to actually use its abilities instead of simply controlling a construct, like how I am simply controlling this doll.

Aucupe and Horoma have heartstones. Horoma has an abnormally powerful fire technique, and Aucupe can-”

Aucupe: ”It’s supposed to be secret!”

Belua: ”... can make feathers.”

Aucupe grabs Belua by the shoulders and starts shaking her.

Aucupe: ”Beelllllwaaaaaaaaaa. Seeeeeecreeeeeeeet.”

'Disaster looms over all of us. The few who have power are responsible for taking action.'

Whatever we take that to mean. I won't turn the key on this thing until we are in trouble."

Luoda seems mildly alarmed, while Tabi appears worried. Kura, on the other hand, seems rather fascinated with the transformation of the lamp.

Luoda: ”How do you know that she is friendly?”

Tabi: ”Is the lamp moving anymore? Maybe you should move it somewhere. Are you able to capture it?”

Kura: ”Capture? What does that mean?”

Ettiin: ”What’s goin’ on? Where’d you get prophecy from? Isn’t the prophet still outside?”

You direct the probe to follow the cable, entering the dark chamber. You can’t tell exactly how large it is, but your probe continues on for a bit before it encounters something new.

A wall of vertical and horizontal bars is in your path, with the cable hooking up to some sort of machine node attached to the grate. The barrier extends far to the left and right, as well as above.

Despite the obstacle, it *looks* like you might actually be able to squeeze the probe through the opening.

You try to capture the lamp, and it vanishes like captured items normally do, being stored in your mysterious containment dimension.

"There's a prophet downstairs?"

Kura: ”Amazing.”

Luoda: ”How did you..?”

Ettiin: ”Well, there’s someone from the temple of Motram. They’re outside painting. Had a vision of something bad happening, so they’re painting places so they can remember what the place’ll look like.”

Might as well make one last push. You direct the probe through the gap, taking a few tries to pull back out and readjust, but you manage to get the probe through.

The screen immediately goes dark, and then shows some text.

Probe detected, creating exception

The screen shows the probe’s view again, and you continue on the journey past the barrier. After a bit of travelling, a dark object zooms towards the probe and the screen goes black.

Probe detected, creating exception

The screen remains dark, with only the text on the screen.

The blonde doll gives a nod, as does Madenuuk.

Belua: "If you could figure out how heartstones are made, maybe they could be used for something good. The other machinery, too. The end goal might have been malicious, but that doesn't mean the knowledge should go to waste."

You and Miimas look around the city for a store that sells mana stones or constructs in general, finding a place that does a lot of orders for Vranhal's mage division.

Heading inside, there's a wall with a nice array of mana stones and accessories to keep them on your person, as well other shelves on the floor that display various other magic components.

An aged man greets you from behind a counter.

Man: "Welcome."

You hit the "Back" button at the top of the screen, which results in the screen going blank for a moment, except for one line of text.

Probe detected, creating exception

The screen then flickers back to the first list of options, where you see

[Status]
[Descend]
[Open Door]

You tap "Open Door", but nothing happens. Tapping it again with a bit more force still results in nothing happening.

Then, the "Descend" option blinks. You feel the casket shudder, and it feels like it's moving. Panicked, you push against the casket door, and then shove hard against it, but it stays firmly closed, until an explosive force rips the lid off of its hinges and flings it into the wall on the opposite side of the room. Tabi is standing to the side, a fan of paper slips in her hand. Her other hand is holding some sort of handheld brick construct, which she drops on the floor and crushes beneath her foot.

The entire tower seems to be slowly descending.

Tabi: "We've got trouble."

Kura: "That's why you're so confident in that witch armor - you can actually nullify witch corruption."

You try to feel what the lamp demands of you, without somehow accidentally triggering it. Hmmmm.

Nope. Analyzing captured stuff isn't too clear, you can't even see what the thing looks like. Maybe that would come with practice, though.

Looking around, you notice Tabi frowning at her interface brick. Suddenly, the entire tower starts shaking, and you can hear beating on the inside of the casket. Tabi pulls out a slip of paper, slaps it onto the surface of the casket's lid, and steps to the side.

An explosive force rips the lid off of its hinges and hurls it into the wall on the opposite side of the room, while Tabi pulls out several more paper tags. She then drops her brick on the ground and crushes it under her foot, grinding its fine inner components into dust.

Tabi: "We've got trouble."
