How much of the helmet do I need to maintain the telepathy protection? Or, well, you probably know as much as I do. A mouth hole is... probably fine. Or just form armor around the food, hah. Eh, I'll wait til we're out of the city regardless.

"Sure. Haven't had anything in a while either."

The two of you stop by one of the eatouts, buying a large roasted bird leg for five coppers. While it’s a foreleg and not as meaty as a thigh would be, it’s as long as your entire arm and more meat than you could possible fit into your stomach. The blue mage orders the same thing for himself, declaring that half will be for later.

Lucida: Kinda miss eating, even if I don’t have much of an appetite in here.

You head into your room to get ready for the party.

You need to get ready.

”In the barn, it’s empty. Twelve rows of beds, twenty columns. The Whitehawk should be here any hour now, we need to make sure they can access everyone as fast as possible. Leave the ones that look like they’re at the edge- we need to prioritize those that will still be alive when the healers arrive.”

Someone in a heavy cloak wearing a bird mask carries you to a large array of beds in a massive barnhouse. Normally meant for containing a large number of animals, now a place to rest those fighting for their lives. Fighting the plague.

The smell of acrid herbs burn your nose - something supposed to keep the doctors safe from the miasma, yet four of them are victims themselves.

You look around, hoping to see your family. They’re not in your house, they’re not at work. They lie amongst the pile of bodies in a clearing, a flicker of flames starting to consume them.

You summon your best armor, pulling it out of your barrier and materializing it around your body. Fabricated from master constructors, it’s strong enough to stop a barrage of rifle fire. Are you ready?

The disaster comes, the tyrants crush their own people, the monsters claw their way through the fabric of reality, leaving their hellscape to wreak havoc on the world.

”Are you ready?”

A man asks you this. A man with a strip of cloth tied around his empty eye sockets with a ragged cloak over his body.

”You are invisible to it. We all are, with this, disconnection to magic. It may see you through others’ eyes, but it cannot see into your mind. Are you ready to stop it?”

Ki’stha: "Let's check out the burnt one first."

"Alright. I guess it's going to be less creepy that way."

Raze: "I don't see why not."

The three of you leave the child, and the village, heading North towards the buildings. Before you get too close, you hunker behind the cover of a hill to check out the area.

The buildings are topped with lights, revealing numerous sentries patrolling the roofs and grounds.

One thing that stands out is the wall that surrounds one particular section of land, and from your vantage point you can make out ruined structures within. The wall itself isn’t manned, so your party of three approaches, staying low in the grass until you reach the blocked-off ruins.

Too tall to jump over. Smooth, nothing to climb on. No visible doors, on the side away from the other buildings, anyways. You could either look for some sort of maintenance or drainage tunnel, or try sneaking into wherever the physical door is.

"She seemed t' be interested in beast cores, maybe a construct shop?"

You lead Horoma and Miimas around the village, looking for a construct shop. There’s a core shop of some sort - seems like a good place to check.

Stepping through the cloth curtain that blocks the entrance, you find yourself standing at the edge of an array of tables covered with beast cores of all shapes and sizes, from the large drake core to the small, egg-shaped-and-sized witch core, though it takes up more room due to its necessary safety container.

Tuhota is talking to a shaman next to a table with yellow cores that look like cat bells - Schal cores, if you remember correctly.

You move as much as you can in the tree, side-stepping as a claw clips through the fur on your shoulder, missing.

The manticore lands back on the ground as you finish your runic spell and dump the 20 mana from your lamp into the spell. A dense swarm of floating white lights surrounds the beast, and instead of sticking around to see how long your spell lasts, you leap down from the tree and dash as fast as you can through the black woods, back towards the forest path.

Moonlight illuminates the dirt road, and you see Jala still standing there, looking at you.

Jala: ”Did you encounter something frightening? I did not think you would actually enter the forest.”

You begin to wake up, the image of the man blurring as he pulls a sword out of thin air, tossing it to you

Opening your eyes, you find that it’s still night. The ceiling is faintly lit from the street lights outside down below.

Looking over, you see Tabi under the covers, the blankets halfway up her head. Sounds like she’s still asleep from the soft, steady breathing you hear.

On the inside of the walls, however, you think you can make out faint sounds.

Tabi jolts awake as you walk over to the table.

Tabi: "Huh? What?"

Pulling the strange sequence from your mind, you materialize a sword in your hand, setting it on the table and flicking on the light. The blade is a lustrous black with a slight curve, almost like a scythe's. The hilt is like bone in color, flaring where it meets the blade forming a short crossguard. The opposite end of the handle is a round pommel, looking like the same material as the blade.

Tabi: "Caelus, is that witch metal?"

Tabi: "You just pulled this out of your dream?"

She pokes the weapon while seemingly ignoring the beginning of your explanation. Running her arm across the blade a bit above the edge, small bits of hair fall on the desk as they're effortlessly sliced off.

Tabi: "That is sharp.
So, people can send you things made of AM. Or you somehow created it in your dream. Do you know why this was given to you?"

Andrew: "You have vital knowledge that would be disastrous if it were to fall into enemy hands, and you lack telepathic protection. You're using Lucida for the time being to both protect your mind and assist in your mission.

That's all."

Lucida: He doesn't know the specifics of what you know. I didn't either, until you told me. I guess you weren't told that.

Huh. Hadn't even thought of that. Bad habit. Well, it won't get out accidentally from you with the whole telepathy resistance and all.
"Good. That's the gist of things, yes. Let's get going, Fluustern is a ways away."
> Head out, get walking East towards Fluustern. Expand my release with 36 mana, make a super dense sword with 64 mana.
"Hey Andrew, I want to test some things about the armor. Can you check to see if we're clear for anyone watching via telepathy?"
