"Alright. Maybe you could ask the Curator about the casket, as well."
> Grab hold of the device again.
Did you feel anything just now? My negation user friend took over and attempted to talk to you, but it seemed ineffective.
He was wondering about the tower as well. It's a tower between Magusalto and Teleiat, or, at least, it's what appears to be a tower. It was inverted apparently, I don't recall how long ago. Anyway, what was once above ground is now below, and my negation using friend, Kleigg, sensed something down below. The bottom of building appears to be a dead end, so we investigated and interacted with some construct at the top of the tower, and it mentioned an 'Oubliette' and something about needing the real casket.

"? Oh! That's right, you hadn't arrived yet! Sorry, assumed. So uh, when Lucida first arrived at Vranhal after escaping the Second, he called Torrent a traitor right before clashing with him and Elizabeth. Torrent refused to speak of it at all when everyone pressed him during debriefing, so it must have been something big. And... Lucida said he was betrayed by a friend while he was in Mead. There's also that the Lucida and Ultima wielders fell in the same battle. Lucida is chasing after Ultima so hard because that's his last memory, fighting alongside the wielder against Caelum mages, then both of them falling in battle and getting trapped in their weapons. ...Must have been one hell of a fight.
That's all I know about Lucida and his relation to Torrent."

Vandolf, can you please take over and ask it about what we got from the tower mechanism? I'm wondering if we can somehow negotiate a way to bring it back. Perhaps find out what the 'oubliette' was in context." CrazyMLC wrote: "Alright. Maybe you could ask the Curator about the casket, as well."

In between Teleiat and Magusalto there is supposed to be a palace with a surrounding town. I do not know why it is now only a tower or was flipped upside-down or why there is mention of an 'Oubliette.' It was not like that when I still had a body.
The palace was home to the weapon that destroyed me - perhaps with the last of the leviathans now hiding in the oceans, the palace was inverted so the weapon would not fall in the wrong hands.____________________ TorrentHKU wrote: "? Not a wrinkle on her face, and looks fit as a fighter. Tara: "Hmm. Torrent was Lucida's friend and betrayed him, Lucida and Ultima fell in battle. Considering Lucida's memory only reaches that far back, I wonder if Torrent was responsible for Lucida's death. Lucida also seems to have a liking towards Elizabeth, but he doesn't really know why, and Elizabeth doesn't know who he could be."She stands there thinking before the table nearly flips as she makes a sudden jump. Tara: "I GOT IT! Lucida's wielder is Elizabeth's long-lost father, since her father disappeared some time before the Equilibrium war and was never seen again!"She looks at you for a moment and then bursts out laughing, taking several seconds to calm down. Tara: "Eheheh, eh. I got nothing."

Tara: "There's one more thing, but it's only passed down through the mother. Suzanna calls it the Conquest. It allowed the Daeli family to initially take over many territories, some ancient form of magic that Suzanna developed before she became matriarch. Ever wonder why the Daeli were so popular? They were able to fend off dragons, witches, leviathans. No one was able to oppose them, either. Until the Third, that is.
My father was Daeli, so I didn't inherit it, and Suzanna took it from him when he left the family."____________________ Amazigh wrote: "Have t' travel back 'round through Takana, or there a more direct route t' take?" Bauen: "You wish to leave so soon? That seems a bit reckless. But, if you are certain, then I and a few other shamans can open what we call a double-gate. Half of us open a gate to the otherworld, the other half opens one back to the regular, with alterations to make sure you are not actually exposed to the forces of the otherworld. A portal."

Re: Ad Infidium (Roll 238)
TorrentHKU wrote: "She took it? What is the Conquest?" Tara: "In short, everything on the battlefield explodes.
In detail, it's almost like an ethereal construct. It can be passed down along the mother's side like magic, but it can also be removed and doesn't require expertise to use if you have it. There are three main components - One produces a massive amount of mana or greatly improves the arcane strength of the user, I'm not sure which. Another that can generate long-range tendril barrages, and the last produces a simple artificial spirit that carries a massive load of mana and releases it in an explosion.
The tendril barrage launches a massive number of telepathic tendrils in whatever direction the user specifies over a massive range, and can be set to flag a point based on target properties. If you set a tendril to make a flag upon contact with a person, you can mark every living thing in a battlefield with near-perfect precision. Then, an artificial spirit is created for each flag, fueled by the arcane or mana booster, and sent down the path of the tendril to the flag. The mana is protected from leeching by the artificial spirit, and the spirit detonates once it reaches its location.
This all happens in an instant. Conquest is one of the few wide-area magic forms that have both brute strength and fast casting. It's also efficient, since a spell is only initiated when it has a 100% chance of hitting. It works for sniping individual targets in a crowd as well, and several Daeli who possess it have been able to use it to cast other spells. Suzanna calls it the ultimate offensive magic - precise, efficient, and doesn't leave any unwanted persisting effects."____________________ TheKebbit wrote: to the curator: "Could you show us around this 'casket'?" Curator: "Of course. It's in the next hall over, actually."You and Tabi leave Vandolf to the leviathan, following the curator to the next hall. Partial and full parts of observational and other types of equipment, husks of beast cores, samples of old architecture, and the casket. In a large clear display case is the tall rectangular box standing on its 'foot'. The casket is made of some unknown material with what looks to be nodes on its sides that correspond with the ones in the slot in the tower. The headrest of the casket has some padding and what looks to be more nodes. Curator: "This was recovered from a smuggler's warehouse of artifacts - it's very heavy, heavier than it looks, and is missing what we believe is a power supply. Analysts have dated it to be no more than two hundred years after the corruption, so it's only a little younger than the leviathan in the other room."____________________ Roast Veg wrote: "It's pleasant and civilized, if a little corrupt at times. What do you mean by terraforming?" ???: "There is a feeling, you could say it is a premonition, that I and several others have had, that something will soon result in great catastrophe in the region. I have heard that the fields there are a pleasing few, I want to capture them on canvas before they are marred by excessive movement of land."

"Ultimate offensive magic, huh. Certainly sounds like it. I'll definitely remember to be polite if I ever meet any other Daeli.
...Tara. This is... probably a bad idea to ask this, but... Have you... heard of a book with direct magic written in it?"

Re: Ad Infidium (Roll 238)
"There is a tower just east of here - a poorly-understood site of great archaeological interest. Very recently a scan for magic that I conducted there picked up a buried network of magical conduits the width of a small town.
We were working with its guard to investigate the structure, and found ports that match this casket exactly. Upon interfacing with the tower's mechanisms, it indicated that such an object would be needed to interact with it further.
Would you be willing to let this artifact accompany us for further study? With a researcher of your choice attached to it. Perhaps an armed guard if you are especially concerned that it stays safe."

A palace... yes, I suppose that would line up with what my companion sensed. We may be able to investigate it should we place a casket in a slot.
Could you tell me more about this weapon that was created to defeat you?
