"Really! Huh, first I'd heard of that. Though that lines up with her, yes.
Alright, I've eaten up enough of your time. Thank you for the talk especially, learned a lot."

Vankil: ”No problem, nice talking with you.”

After the two of you shake hands, you leave the jail, pop three Intermissions, and think about where Tara would be. Hmm, the matriarch of a powerful family and nation visiting Vranhal, maybe some sort of reserved ‘visitor’ house?

Fortunately there seems to be just the place - a two-story house of white stone walls and pillars, while not on the largest plot of land, has a nice lawn and garden surrounding it. Oh, and guards, too.

The entire area is closed off with a steel fence, so you approach the gate where some guards are posted. You tell them that you’re visiting, and after a brief pause, telepathic communication perhaps, they open the gate and let you through.

Walking up the path to the house, there aren’t any guards posted directly at the door, so you give it a knock, only entering after you hear a “come in.”

Opening the door and stepping in, the first thing that greets you are the boxes. Stacks of boxes wrapped in decorative paper with hand-written notes folded and tied on with delicate ribbons. There are easily a hundred of them all kept in a room to the left of the entrance hall, all unopened.

Heading down the hall, you enter the living room, where you see the matriarch of the Daeli standing beside a table with opened books sprawled across its surface. The matriarch herself is wearing a simple cotton shirt and black pants, with an elegant black and silver sword sheathed at her waist. On the padded chair near her is a large black coat, a long sleeved button-down shirt, and some other more formal wear.

She looks up at you, a flash of confusion before returning to a more neutral expression while quickly looking you over.

Tara: ”I was worried for a moment you were another aristocrat.”

How did they acquire the parts of such powerful creatures as the Witch Queens? Is it similar to your situation - a specialized weapon?

Anyway, it's thought that the spirit currently in Ultima, or riehua, is unstable. As such, it's being held in secret facility using what I can only imagine is an incredibly strong anti magic field. This has been going well enough so far, but recently another weapon, Lucida, was released, and it hopes to free Riehua. The situation has been stabilized so far, but it's only a matter of time before something unfortunate occurs.
We're searching for a way to remove the spirits from each, but we don't know how that will go. We also don't know for sure what the best way to deal with what remains of Riehua after the spirit is removed.

Rauha: Kamilla spent a long time planning, following the witch queens’ trail of destruction, failing many times to take them down, until she finally succeeded, using her own Disaster weapons.

The situation with Riehua, hmm. It certainly sounds like something that can end horribly. Indefinite containment can work, so long as it is done in a competent manner. Destroying it can work, so long as you can deal with the aftermath of the sudden explosion of space and energy contained in the weapon.

That... sounds difficult.

Are the shamans who destroyed Kaasiala still around, or ones of a similar practice? I would like to meet them.

Tabi: ”Vandolf is, uh, taking a while. What is that thing?”

Curator: ”It’s a leviathan memory stone, with the spirit still inside! He’s communicating with it right now.”

Tabi: ”Huh. Wait, why do you have something like that?”

Curator: ”It was recovered from an archeological dig site a while ago and kept in storage for some time, and donated to the museum, oh, twelve years ago? We originally thought it would be a huge hit, since the spirit inside was okay with communicating to the visitors, but it turns out that very few people actually believe it’s a leviathan in there.”

Bauen: ”Similar in practice, I suppose, but there isn’t a setup for it. You will have to hunt for spirits yourself and take care to gauge their strength to something you can tolerate. If you make good progress, the ones you encounter later in your training will be far stronger than the ones in the initiation. Some will even be capable of bringing themselves into the physical world, just to attack your body.

The plains west of the path that connect Fluustern and Einsam, it is a wasteland from old times, ruins of villages and towns, many spirits from this world and the other. That is where many shamans go to test their strength, and where many meet their graves.”

I see, thank you.

"I've learned a lot talking to the leviathan, named Rauha. You should try talking to him, Kleigg."

One last question, before I try to hand you off to a new arrival, who happens to be the negation user I mentioned previously.
Have you heard of a tower to the east of here? There appears to be some sort of magical artifact inside of it that's been sealed away.

"Mm, anything you know about the spirit inside mostly. Figure I should try to learn about the guy if I'm going to be working with him. Especially anything about his relationship with Torrent, I don't want that biting anyone in the ass later.
The sword itself is pretty obvious, it can do Light magic and lots of it, though I'm not sure what exactly that can entail. I do know that you can do... interesting things with applied Light and Dark magic."

You sense confusion coming from the leviathan.

Rauha: Tower? I do not think you are referring to the towers in Magusalto. What tower?"

Tara: "I don't have a lot of information myself on who's inside, partially what I'm trying to figure out right now.[/i]

She gestures to all the books on the table.

Tara: "Whoever it is, he's either recent enough to not show up in any records, or just kept a low profile. Lucida was supposed to be unspirited for some time, I can't imagine a spirit would've been keeping quiet for a long period of time only to come out of hiding after being stuck into the Second's anti-magic chamber.

Has to be someone recent. Which, sort of bugs me on another thing. Riehua, the Ultima weapon, was recently moved into Vranhal's possession, some time before the Equilibrium War. I don't know if the two incidents are related, but they both are fairly close in time frame and in the same region. Seems like a strange coincidence.

Now, what's this relationship between Lucida and Torrent?"

Hello. I am Kleigg the Negation user, and I would be interested in hearing your thoughts about a structure to our east. A tower that was apparently magically inverted, its heights being buried in the ground, its sub-basements vaulted into the sky.

We have interfaced with the tower mechanisms that are remaining and received indications that a 'casket' (like the one which contains you) should be there. But it isn't. You were extracted from it, we think.

"Um.
You're absolutely right.

Vandolf, can you please take over and ask it about what we got from the tower mechanism? I'm wondering if we can somehow negotiate a way to bring it back. Perhaps find out what the 'oubliette' was in context."
