(Intermissions on full roll) You get comfortable on the soft, and just relax in the cool air and the nice scenery. You do have the healing lamp that could fix you up in a jiffy, maybe you'll use that. Maybe not.
Glancing up, you see Linna's face. You don't recall seeing her with any noticeable expression before, but now she seems nervous.
Linna: "Um. Are you, okay."

You find the Phoenix Down inn, a two-story building with a painted sign with a phoenix above the door. Entering the building, you ask for enough rooms for everyone to sleep, and get two rooms - each with two beds. You end up in a room with Horoma.
Dropping into bed, you let your weariness from the journey ease up, and sleep sets in. The last thing you see is Horoma sitting on her bed staring at you.
You see a dining room, with a table in front of a fireplace. Horoma is sitting at the table, simply staring at a plate of food, with an older woman across from her who is eating with a scowl on her face.
Horoma: "Mom.."
No response.
Horoma: "Mo-"
Woman: "Why couldn't you just inherit it, Maria? They said it was ninety-nine percent guaranteed. And you had to be the one-percent. What am I supposed to do with you now? I can't afford to have another child around. Get rid of you, and then what? Foul my image?"
She angrily eats for a minute or so, the fireplace glowing slightly brighter, before there's a knock on the door. The woman eagerly gets to her feet and opens the door, greeting a man dressed in a red cloak. The woman seems happy at first, but then seems scared, saying something, and the man leaves.
The dream becomes fuzzy - the woman sitting back down and eating, before starting to shout at Horoma. The fire place gets brighter, and then the whole house lights up in flames.
Horoma calmly leaves the house, starting to walk down the street only to stop, the red cloaked man standing in front of her.

Horoma calmly leaves the house, starting to walk down the street only to stop, the red cloaked man standing in front of her.
The two watch the house burn down in silence. The building quickly collapses upon itself as wooden support beams are eaten away by the hungry flames. Horoma starts to walk away.
Man: ”Hey.”
She stops, and then turns around.
Man: ”You didn’t inherit your mother’s ability, but you somehow got my fire, and you can use it without any prior training.
You’re gonna grow up to be somethin’ terrifying, I can see that much.”
He tosses a small pouch to her, which she catches and opens up. Gold coins, and a mana stone.
Man: ”Go make a name for yourself. Show the world what you’re made of.”
The red cloaked man turns and leaves.
You stir awake, feeling decently rested. Turning to the side, you see Horoma lying on her bed face up, eyes closed and hands folded and resting on her stomach. She’s not under the blankets, which are still tucked in, just on top of them. ____________________

"Making good progress thankfully - I'm feeling a bit more confident about not immediately being shredded like paper. Being able to actually avoid being hit is a massive improvement for me, and it's all thanks to you two. I may even be ready to begin training with the Venari, much sooner than I thought. I just hope one day I can return the favor."

"Ah, well, maybe I'm getting a bit overly-sentimental here. Say Ettiin, maybe you don't have to hold back all the way this time, I'm sure Rudo's feeling a bit left out over there."

"Nothing at all. An enigma just swallowed itself in front of us.
Thank you for following me into this, Tabi. I can't act alone, I - I need your expertise. Like bread and air. Should we report back to the Spiral? Do you think we can give them a signal that we are going undercover, to do recon elsewhere? How short of a chain are we being kept on?
I have friends who are attempting to do some very interesting things in construct theory to help save innocents from a loose magic weapon. They call it Lucida. It burns most things it comes across because the Second put it in sensory deprivation. My biggest regret is trying to control it, once."
