caekdaemon - Al-Aris [-]:
Alaris:
"....it is hard to sum into words just how much I hate this ability, you know."Lirala:
"Why?"Alaris:
"I feel utterly useless. I might as well be the embodiment of marshmallows, but at least I'd be able to give sweets to children with that power...or bury someone inside a marshmallow. I wonder if it's too late to get a refund on this thing...exchange it for being the physical manifestation of sugary treats."Angrily, you flick your hand through the air while pulsing your stupid powers.
*CRACK*Surprisingly, something happens. There's a crack like a bullwhip, and a small flash of black, followed by a strange acrid scent in the air floating up to your nose. What... did you just do?
You repeat the motion and the pulse, and you get a similar reaction. A sudden flash of black, a snapping noise, and an odd scent.
Hm. You may have just gotten exactly what you want. It looks like, well, a blade of angry decay. Well, almost. Right now it's just a sharp pulse from your hand when you strike. On a hunch, you grab a nearby stick, a rather sturdy looking one a bit thinner than your wrist, and give it a sharp chop with your hand. Nothing happens, and you shake the pain out of your hand. Then, a second try with the decay pulse.
*Shpp*Your hand goes clean through the stick, taking you by surprise, and half of it falls straight to the ground. Examining the cut, it's not a very clean wound. Kind of dry, with an uneven cut line made of soft, splintery chunks. Dry rot?
Lirala:
"That wouldn't be so bad, actually. The candy power. You could do a lot of good by being the embodiment of food and treats! You could give alms to the poor, or...hit people with gigantic lollypops! You could even cause explosions with those little bags of crackling sweets."Lirala pauses.
"...I need to write this down in case I ever get the chance to have a power..."Appearance: A big and bulky man that appears to be middle aged, with a full head of black hair and surprisingly dark eyes. He claims to be Middle Eastern in origin, but to an observer he would seem to be a little...pale.
Seraphimo - Dunrim [-]:
Dunrim:
"Here I go!"You don't think you can quite fly yet. You believe in your powers, but not THAT much yet. That doesn't mean you can't scout from a high vantage point though! Lots of sturdy trees to climb!
Remembering your running down the street, you try to apply that again here, but in more explosive bursts. You give a little hop with a boost of Kinetic energy stolen from the air around you, and find yourself hopping twice as high as you should be. You then try a normal jump, and you easily jump up waist height. Let's get serious...
Taking a moment to gather energy, you crouch down, then leap as hard as you can, dumping as much energy into it as you managed to gather, and get launched into the air by the sudden burst of speed. You easily fly 10 feet into the air, and manage to grab onto a nearby tree branch at the top of your jump, then hang there for a moment while you soak in the glory of your success. You then gather energy again, and taking it slowly, begin jumping between trees, climbing higher bit by bit. It takes you half the tree's height to realize that each jump is getting bigger. At the first jump, you were just going about a foot up the other tree. After a while, you're gaining as much ground as you did with the first initial jump, and you're going horizontal with these jumps as well.
It takes about half an hour of jumping and climbing, but the others seem content to wait at the split instead of going on ahead, and you manage to climb all the way to the crest of the trees, letting you see over the area! You're a bit higher than the cliff to the left, just barely, and can see over the treetops easily. Looks like... a bit ahead there's a line of treeless-ness going east-west, you'll need to cross that to get there. Far beyond that line, you see another clearing to the south, and can barely make out a few grassy mounds in the clearing. Jackpot?
Appearance: His face is full of soot and he looks a bit pale but otherwise he looks like a normal human. He is a little shorter than the average human and he likes to wear fully protective clothing. His origin is claimed to be somewhere inside Europe though he's not telling where.
TheKebbit - Wassily Nuñez [-]:
You and Mikey head to the right, through the thicker forest that goes down. Better than falling off a cliff accidentally and breaking your neck. You muse on the fact that you've been given no weapons, but then again, you have literal superpowers. Yours aren't too dangerous (yet) but you have guys who can control energy, death, and decay. You think that the team can handle any baddies, for the time being at least. Hm.
You wonder if En has an Embodied of Guns or Swords or something. That would be pretty convenient. Or like, mythological weapons. Better yet, you hope no other god has an Embodiment of any mythological weapons. That could be scary.
Appearance: A square man in a heavily starched uniform - white, blue, and yellow, battered radio and a flare gun hanging from his belt in a plastic crate. His face is creased with lines of worry. He bears papers and codes of many navies, corporate and scientific contracts, stamped, sealed, filed as paid.
CaveCricket48 - Linna [-]:
Linna:
"I'm working on GREAVES."...
Paladin Spirit:
Use your shield. It will come to you."Ignoring the spirit entirely, you dispel your two shields, and look around for a good beating stick. Somehow, you find on that's pretty much perfect. Ramrod straight, about an inch and a half thick, and few branches on it. With your Embodied strength, it doesn't take much to strip the bark and branches off, and you quickly have a good sturdy staff to work with. Satisfied with your new weapon, you give it a few angry swings around, getting a feel for the thing.
As you're practicing, Lirala walks over, looking a bit concerned.
Lirala:
"Hey, is there something wrong? You look upset...if there's anything I can do to help, just say."Linna:
"My Embodiment came with Schizophrenia. I'll be alright."Lirala:
"Schizophrenia? I don't... you're a Paladin, correct? I don't see why a Paladin would have phantom sensations..."Linna:
"No, I- no, there's a spirit. There's some paladin spirit trying to tell me how to use my powers. Saying I can't have armor unless I master the shield first."She ponders for a second.
Lirala:
"Well... why not listen to it? If it's the spirit of your powers, it probably doesn't mean you any harm."Appearance: A young woman that seems a bit thin but stands on a sturdy pair of legs. Her short dark hair is still long enough to nearly cover her eyes that are already concealed behind thick glasses, making it difficult to read her expression.
maart3n - Mikey/Heph [-]:
Mikey:
"Since nobody else here is making choices I vote we take the path on the right."Wassily nods next to you, and the two of you head to the right, walking through the denser treed area. Down this path, it starts getting more bushy and hilly, and you find yourself slowing down to make your way through the forest. Wassily thinks about weapons out loud, but you're too busy watching your step to comment.
After making your way into the forest a ways, you can't see the rest of the group anymore, but more importantly, you feel a chill, and realize that there's something ahead of you. Multiple somethings. Growling somethings, making their way slowly through the bushes.
Paedichorrhea - Matt [-]:
Matt:
"Is this thing even working... Well, nobody is looking to me for support any more than they did before..."To test your theory, you keep your powers up and walk away from the group. Fortune smiles upon you, and you see a squirrel a ways away, rooting through the grass. You walk casually towards it, not making any attempt to keep quiet. It doesn't even notice, continuing to search for nuts. Or whatever it is squirrels do. Make a mess.
Hm. You're now standing right next to the squirrel, and it's not even paying attention to you. It even went around your leg to continue searching. Final test time.
You reach down and gently grab the squirrel around its torso, lifting it up into the air. It sure notices you NOW, engaging the normal squirrel panic and chittering wildly. It doesn't try to bite you though, for whatever reason. So... it still can't see you, even when you're holding it up in the air, but it can notice the fact that you're holding it. Alright, that makes sense. You have confirmation that your power works. Cool.
Events:As Wassily and Mikey proceed, they eventually stop as they realize that they've encountered something. Something alive and big.
From the bushes in front of them emerge wolves. Lots of wolves. A good dozen, somewhat small, ash grey canines with their haunches up slowly stalk out of the bushes, spreading out in front of the duo in a hunting pattern.
