Miggles wrote: the single greatest thing about league over dota though is that i actually play with people who speak english. unlike valve, riot somehow manages to make english the predominant language on an english server. what a ♥♥♥♥ crazy idea, right. That's not the problem, the problem is that latin american servers (Brazil, Peru and Chile) are WAY smaller than the United States ones. You can be literally waiting 10 minutes to find a server in Peru/Chile, so most latin american people always default to Brazil/United States. Well, that and most people don't use the language filter. Because you know, peruvians can barely read english. League's community in latin america however is way bigger and has much more servers, so there's rarely any need to go to another server. Also reported for double posting. 111herbert111 wrote: All MOBAs are objectively multiplayer Only fact in this discussion.

Re: The Lounge
on every forum i go to that isnt this one nobody cares about double posts unless theyre made by dummies this forum is archaic get with the times double posting is the future remove post cooldown
also i think the issue is that theres both not enough servers in latin america and also that valve's servers as a whole are bad. from what ive heard the connections are really awful given how many peruvians flood the US servers, i find it hard to believe there's not a big enough following in the south to get players, more just that the american servers are closer because valve doesnt think to put the servers where the majority of the players are case in point: russia's server is in sweden. which is a large number of miles away from 90% of russia.

Re: The Lounge
You'd be amazed with the corners that are cut with pretty much all games, so if you get down to it, everything is "objectively bad" Even a game as purty as Dark Souls has minor things they did to save a lot of time, like badly normaled bricks, a quick fix multiplayer system, and bad polygon economy in Blighttown and the Demon Areas; they were all like "oh.. we gotta create a low poly version and UV map it.. wait, lets just NOT, LOL"
So it all comes down to "Don't like it? Don't buy it, and quit bitchin", as corner cutting is always done in everything I pretty much agree with Miggle about the MOBA communities

Re: The Lounge
I used to play a lot of Dota, but I kinda grew bored of it. I still play a match every once in a while, but for the most part I've moved on. I also tried to get into League after I had played a couple hundred hours of Dota, since that's what my brother prefers, but I didn't really like it. The fact that you had to either grind or buy heroes didn't really sit well with me, and in general the gameplay felt much slower and more focused on execution.
More people should pick up Company of Heroes 2, though. That game's multiplayer scene is slowly dying away. It would be a great shame to see it go the way of Dawn of War 2.

Re: The Lounge
I've killed eight spiders in the last week, and two more today.
Where the hell are they coming from? They seem to be attracted to the warmth of my PC, as sometimes I can go get a drink, come back and catch one walking over the monitor.
I don't really care about spiders, hell, when I was 16 I woke up and found a spider's nest in my bed, so they really don't scare me, they're just annoying distractions when they walk in at the edge of my vision.
For clarification, these are fairly big, about the size of the bottom of a coffee cup, with long, thin legs, a small body and a sack about the size of a pepper grain. I haven't seen any babies or small ones, just adults.

Re: The Lounge
If you have a stationary computer have you checked inside of the computer? It would be bad if they run around inside of the stationary computer, one of the spiders might get fried and catch fire.

It's stationary, but there isn't a way for them to get in, but I checked anyway, just to be on the safe side. Still perplexed as to the origin of the little beasts, but I'll find them before long, I'm sure.

Re: The Lounge
Re: mobas I never ever play mobas on my own. Ever. It's not fun when you can't properly communicate with at least one team member. Dota is my main game, I'm pretty invested in it now, but I think Heroes is probably the most fun of the bunch. I miss Dawngate though

Re: The Lounge
There's a neato multiplayer arena called ArcheBlade It reminds me of League but with a more traditional chasecam and Quake feel It's also pretty fast

Movement felt sluggish, and you don't have items such as blink dagger or force staff. CC is very limited, so ganks tend to be more drawn out and chase-y, rather than the faster stun fest ganks of Dota. Abilities in general seemed very watered down. The laning phase seemed to last longer than in Dota, too. Keep in mind I only played around twenty matches of League before I gave up. That might affect the impression I got by a huge margin.
