"Vakaumus, care to explain what happened? Did you underestimate Lucida this much? And why are you hiding here? While your beloved Esthen is getting wrecked by your own damn plan, you seal yourself off instead of providing help. You are lucky you are probably the only one that knows how to stop Lucida, because I'm pretty sure no one is happy about what happened. I managed to get some information from Lucida picking up it's thoughts however, so we are not entirely clueless.

Now, care explaining what's going on?"

Vakaumus appears to be furious at P’orihc, and you prepare to blastwave in the event of hostile action.

Vakaumus: ”’Hiding!?’ I am the only one who holds a great deal of knowledge of Lucida, I am protecting vital information for the benefit of the Second!”

He pauses for a few seconds, seeming to calm down a bit.

Vakaumus: ”Despite our defensive measures in place, Lucida escaped. Within seconds of the weapon being released, our anti-magic devices on the grounds were destroyed and our cancellers were quickly slaughtered. The few reports that I have received state that the weapon moved around the Second’s grounds in a complex way, a mix of a search and an evasive pattern. I can only assume that the weapon had planned to escape for some time, and I am ashamed to say that it succeeded.

However, I have plans to recapture Lucida as well. Preparations were made over several years in the event that something like this were to happen. Now, you said you obtained information from ‘picking up its thoughts.’ What did you find, exactly?”

"Years? You've had Lucida for Years?
You have had a sentient being locked away in an anti magic cage, depriving it of a body and any sensory stimulation, with only its own thoughts to occupy it, for YEARS?! And you're surprised that the first slightest glimmer of a chance it gets, it claws its way out of that veritable hell by tooth and nail. And now that it's free, you want to lock it back up.
I so dearly hope you have a more valid reason for doing so than 'we wanted a weapon'."

"Lucida was looking for another one like itself, a 'gray one', but no one knew what it was. I'm more concerned about something John pointed out though. Does this thing really have a mind? If it does, don't you think it was a bad idea to keep a sentient thing locked up? An insane super weapon, or a resented super weapon, will be much harder to control. And now it is probably looking for it's 'gray friend' to begin their new world order."

Ki’stha: "You sat here with it under maximum security for that long and decided to take it down in less than a week? Who gave you that singular authority?"

For a moment, there is silence. It isn’t until several seconds later that Vakaumus speaks.

Vakaumus: ”It has a mind, yes.
The ‘gray one,’ it may be referring to the weapon that is more powerful than it. ”

He seems to be trying to avoid answering the other questions, and purposely holding back details of the ones answered.

Vakaumus: ”It was not supposed to be sentient.”

You're not just a terrible person, you're INCOMPETENT as well! You didn't check to see if Lucida could think, you locked it away knowing it had a mind, you left it there where it could think and plan and brew in its anger for years, and then, to top it all off, the first stranger with negation who walks through your door, you give him an hour of training, don't even THINK about whether or not he's actually on your side or make sure he can really handle Lucida, and then put a gods damned super weapon in his hand!
It almost sounds like you WANTED Lucida to break free and cause an incident! Hell, I'm just glad that Lucida's a better person than I am, because if that was me? I'd be burning this city to the ground in retribution right now."

P’orihc: "What do you mean with 'it wasn't supposed to be sentient'? I think we are obviously missing important details, and I guess we can't really provide much help if we don't know what's really going on."

It seems like Vakaumus is about to respond, but then stops and stares at something behind you. Turning around, you see that eight new people are now standing inside the dome by the entrance. Unlike the solid colored robes that the other mages wore, these have a main color and then an inch of a secondary color border at the edges of the robe. All of the mages are also wearing sturdy leather gauntlets and greaves, a steel cuirass, a sword sheathed at the hip, and a gold lightning bolt is stitched into the right shoulder of their robes. Three of the mages bear the main color red and the minor color grey, another is grey-blue, blue-grey, white-grey, green-grey, and grey-purple.

Grey-Blue Mage: ”We are Enforcement squad Seventy Four. Vakaumus, you have been stripped of your rank and privileges and are under arrest for taking high risk actions without approval from higher command, causing the death of numerous members of the Second and destruction of facilities through incompetent directing, releasing confidential information to unapproved parties, and being responsible for the loss of valuable resources. We are authorized to use lethal force to remove you if you resist capture.”

Vakaumus slowly lowers his head as his bodyguards back off.

Vakaumus: ”I will come peacefully.”

The Enforcement squad apprehend Vakaumus without incident, binding his arms with ropes and injecting some sort of serum into him with a syringe. He slowly goes limp and is dragged out of the building, leaving one of the Enforcers remaining.

Green-Grey Mage: ”I assume one of you is the negation mage that Vakaumus recruited for his schemes and the rest of you got involved. We have no orders to deal with you, but we would be grateful if you could share what you know about the situation. In return, we can share information from our side of things - what we’re allowed to, anyways.”

"What do you mean with 'it wasn't supposed to be sentient'? I think we are obviously missing important details, and I guess we can't really provide much help if we don't know what's really going on."

It seems like Vakaumus is about to respond, but then stops and stares at something behind you. Turning around, you see that eight new people are now standing inside the dome by the entrance. Unlike the solid colored robes that the other mages wore, these have a main color and then an inch of a secondary color border at the edges of the robe. All of the mages are also wearing sturdy leather gauntlets and greaves, a steel cuirass, and a sword sheathed at the hip. A gold lightning bolt is stitched into the right shoulder of their robes. Oh god why are they yelling at him. You start to back up, and then bump into something and jump forward a bit in surprised. Post Re: Ad Infidium (Roll 96)
"Huh. Alright.
Well, we got to town, our Nullifier being a natural trouble magnet managed to get himself to the temple pretty quickly. He told them he was a Nullifier and could help, and then Vakaumus gave him a crash course in nullifying and restraining Lucida. Then, after deciding that was sufficient, they went to the anti-magic chamber where Lucida was, turned the defenses off while our Nullifier cranked up his own anti-magic, and took Lucida. He tested out its power a bit, and that ended with a giant hole melted in the wall of the chamber.
Then, Lucida went on a minor rampage, broke into the construct storage, didn't find the "gray one" it was looking for, killed a few people that tried to stop it, and went back outside. A bunch of mages had gathered to try and stop Lucida, but well, one powerful blinding and a bunch of twitchy mages with spells ready to fire later...
Yeah. Lots of friendly fire, but not much killing from Lucida itself. It explicitly stated that anyone who didn't get in its way wouldn't be touched actually. And then it ran off to who knows where, most of us were too blinded to see it.
Then after the blind faded a bit, we gathered up to get some answers from Vakaumus ourselves, yelled at him a bit, and then you all showed up."
> Increase mana stone by 5 mana.
"So. What's up with Lucida then? Vakaumus said it 'shouldn't be' sentient, but it was pretty damn sentient. That's a big oversight for something you're trying to use as a weapon.
What is Lucida? Why does the Second have it locked up? What's this Gray One it's looking for?"
