Everyone knows that reactionary is the best government party till communism comes along, then fascism is even better than communism since it does whatever the player wants it to do and is usually jingoist and state capitalist. Compared to my game of Iberia, where the communists are...ugh... pacifists.EDIT : Goddamn, that game is flawed but its like crack. Its bad, but you just have to have more. I have a save of the USA where I fiddled the democracy to get the Southern Democrats in control before wiping out the voting privileges and turning the US into a presidential dictatorship.

Re: The Lounge
Mod piracy was basically inevitable with this - I'm surprised they didn't put better safeguards in place. As for no promise on updates/etc.; that's something we should be familiar with by now. Whether it's mega-publisher products, small-studio/solo gamedev, or one-man mods. This is not a "new" risk by any stretch of the imagination. If a modmaker cuts and runs with the cash, their reputation is bust, same as any developer's. Same as if I buy a car that falls apart two weeks later, only to find the guy who sold it to me has vanished off the face of the earth. I doubt there is a whole lot that they can do about that particular issue, unless they offer some kind of extended refund policy. Ditto for any modder that transfers over from free to paid unless they already have a solid fanbase willing to support them through that transition. Concept and execution are two seperate things, and I agree that the execution has its holes. But many of these are not new holes. Growing pains are to be expected with any system.

They're not new holes. We all know about them. But this system doesn't do anything at all to address them. It's just a way to profit off of the modding scene.

Re: The Lounge
This model will not work for skyrim. Too many mods are just having figures strapped to them that they wouldn't have otherwise had. The mods were not made under the assumption that they will be worth money.
As a counter model, train simulator dlc has been community made pretty much forever (which is why there's thousands of dollars worth in the store) which is all vetted by the game developers, and plenty of people also make dlc and sell it externally. The community is niche-er and the culture of paying for dlc is already there thanks to a relatively low supply - the mods are made under the assumption that they will be worth money.

Re: The Lounge
Like if the workshop was the only source to get mods. All my Skyrim mods came from NMM for instance. I really doubt this is gonna have any impact at all. But personally, I dislike the idea about putting the mods "on sale" for a multitude of hard to explain reasons. Oh well, let's see what happens.

I tried putting a certain alien faced symbol into my signature for a joke. The site promptly started throwing SQL errors at me. Tried location, and this time I took a screenshot :p It won't even go into the post ;_;

The collation for the MySQL table is probably not up to the challenge of your characters. Also it's goddamn MySQL 4, which is 6+ years old. Edit: By that I mean, support for MySQL 4 was dropped 6+ years ago: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MySQL#Versions

Re: The Lounge
Four doors so my ridiculous insurance wont be as ridiculous, but its got a V8 with well over 300hp/torques, RWD, comes w six speed manual, faster/better handling than 98% of cars on the road, but it isn't too flashy. Also big enough for five people and lots of groceries. Nice enough interior. 2008 can be had on CarMax for low $20K, plus another $2K = 6yr/60K mile warranty.
30% of my waking life is shopping for used luxury/sports cars.

Re: The Lounge
That sounds pretty sensible actually. I don't know if you have the facility to drive it fast but at least you're realistic enough to get one that will also be really useful.
