"Alright so basically, Kleigg is becoming a tool for the Second. But can you guarantee that this plan will work? What if they don't accept, or worse, take it as a threat, and decide to declare war? Could Lucida really change the tides of war?"

"They can be reusable, and the cost wouldn't be so bad once I got a stock of them built up. If they have anti magic or projectile defenses, well I'm good at Kinetics, I'll punch them. And if they have defenses for THAT too well then I'm in way over my head anyway. It certainly wouldn't be my primary weapon, but it would be a useful supplemental, or as support."
> Top off mana stone, make a Conduit gauntlet. I'mma go all out with making Conduit ♥♥♥♥.

Haiva: ”I see.”

You top off your mana stone, and then make a gauntlet out of conduit.

Haiva: ”Hmm, if you’re going to make stuff out of fake matter, you can make simpler, non-magic conductive stuff, it’s more durable. Just use conduit for the actual magic pathways.”

A brief lesson later, and you learn how to magic up a gauntlet that covers your hand and forearm made of “artificial matter.” It’s an opaque grey almost like stone but not nearly as heavy, compared to the glassy transparency of conduit, but apparently you can set what color it is while creating.

Vakaumus: ”We have plans in place that, while I cannot discuss, will ensure that they will accept. If all of our careful planning has for some reason been for nought, Lucida is powerful enough to turn the tide of a war should one break out.”

Kyeltziv: "An unwillin' tool doesn't sound like the sort i'd put much faith int' myself."

Vakaumus: ”I assure you, it is completely safe when the proper anti-magic is in place.“

He gestures towards the locked door.

Vakaumus: ”Lucida is currently sitting peacefully in the chamber beyond this door, completely harmless while our systems continuously blast it with anti-magic. You can even enter the chamber and pick up the item and it will do nothing. Kleigg will be like a smaller, mobile version of this anti-magic chamber, except with the benefit that he can use the item by selectively disabling what he doesn’t want, instead of keeping the entire thing ♥♥♥♥ down.”

"Wait. I. I just realized. I can just... MAKE things like this. Armor, weapons, tools, parts, ammunition, traps...
Are there any downsides to this stuff? Does it disappear or degrade after a time? Can it be negated? How many people have thought to weaponize this? Why have I never heard of this before, this seems huge!"
> Add stout knuckle spikes to gauntlet. Nothing big enough to get in the way or catch on anything, just enough for some extra oomph in a punch. Also make a few matter marbles and flick one with a power flow finger. Away from anything important or fragile.

Haiva: ”It was huge, until people figured out you could just do this -”

She aims a palm at your gauntlet and holes start appearing all over, growing until the entire gauntlet is gone.

She does help you make a new one though, and you get a duplicate a minute or so later which you add some stout knuckle spikes to.

Haiva: ”Physical matter follows the law of conservation: it cannot be created, and it cannot be destroyed. Artificial matter is the opposite: It can be created, and it can be destroyed. Pretty easily in both cases. Quality constructs will have complex magic sequences that protect them from destruction by enemy mages. The creators of such sequences are extremely protective about the workings of the sequence, since knowing how it works means you can figure out how to bypass it. I was fortunate enough that my teacher, a famous and highly skilled constructor, gave me the information to utilize his protection measures. I’m not willing to give the information to anyone though, and you might have a hard time finding someone to teach you.”

You create some artificial matter marbles and, with Haiva’s permission, flick one at Bulwark (Mark Two, she seems eager to remind you). It has about as much effect as if you were to launch a kinetic bolt with the same amount of energy.

P’orihc: "Where did Lucida come from? Why didn't you use it before? And what exactly is Lucida? What can it do?"

Vakaumus: ”Lucida was made by one of the three daughters of Caelus, the weapon master Tabitha, as named by the Second, Takoa as named by herself when she was found. The weapon only arrived in our possession recently, several years ago, and was sentient when it was located and contained by the Second. Usage of the weapon was impossible to us at that time.
As for what it is: It is a magic construct in the form of a sword. It is one of the finest blades to exist, and allows its user to cast powerful light magic.”

Kyeltsiv: "Well, if you think it's safe I'm not really in any position t' argue."

The old man nods his head.

Vakaumus: ”It is completely safe”

"Could you teach me some simple ones then? Something's better than nothing. Is construct breakdown an automatic process for mages? Like, they have fields or spells that automatically break things down? Or do they have to try it manually? Can someone analyze a construct's sequence on the fly, like in battle? If not, I would think a simple code would work. Either you try to destroy it with no sequence, or it's probably not worth the time to figure out how they have it protected."
> Try to sense my gauntlet. Can I tell it's made of magic?
Also make a marble that looks like it's made of metal. Shiny and silvery.
