Re: Ad Infidium (Roll 71)
Roll 71 The world as the players know it: (John is in Algus, rest of players are in Esthen) Name: John Freemaneth (TorrentHKU) Race: Human ____________________ You grab the mana stone, which has a whopping 50 mana in it, and start making the construct components. 20 Mana to a Kinetic Bolt Focus = Kinetic Bolt Focus at 100% strength 20 to a Release = Release Crystal at 2 capacity 10 to a Mana stone = Mana Stone at 1 capacity And then some conduit. "Wow, this takes... a lot of mana to create. Jeez, I can barely even make one with my own reserves."Haiva: ”You’ll get more efficient with time. Now, here’s how you stick it all together...”Not long after, you have all your components attached to a stave of wood. Hmm, how do you - Haiva: ”Oh, right, I forgot the activation component. Mana sparker, right. Turns physical force into an itty bitty mana pulse to get the mana stone to start dumping out energy into the conduits.”You remember that from your book! Luckily, this thing isn’t as nearly as expensive to materialize. The wiring connecting the sparker to the Mana stone is complicated as hell, but you manage to get it right. After Haiva procures some bits of metal and a spring out of no where, you fashion a lever on to the staff that puts tension on a spring, and after a certain point unleashes the tension in the form of a metal “hammer” smacking into the mana striker, resulting in the mana stored in the Mana stone to be released into the Focus, which then stores the spell into the Release crystal, which THEN launches a little kinetic bolt. Haiva: ”Nice job, you’ve made your first construct! Do I get paid yet?”____________________ Conditions:Health: 50/50 Stamina: 4/4 Mana: 7/7 AP: 3/3 Evasion AP: 2/2 Fortification AP: 1/1 Name: Kleigg (TheKebbit) Race: Human ____________________ You expend all of your mana to put a powerful null field around yourself. "Fire."He starts with small fireballs that quickly vanish when they get near you, and quickly moves up to larger and more powerful blasts that are able to make it deeper in your field before being negated. The fire stops when the spheres of heat are negated a mere finger’s length before reaching you. Vakaumus: ”Your passive detection is decent, but will need to be stronger.”He tosses you a walnut-sized crystal of some sort. A mana stone? Vakaumus: ”You know how to draw energy out from that?”Nope. It doesn’t take long to teach you how to put in and take out mana from a mana stone, and you quickly replenish your supply. The practice goes on with nulling yourself up to withstand the fire, slowly building up your negation strength. After enough rounds, the old man seems satisfied. Vakaumus: ”This seems like a good enough place to switch to something else. Armin, please activate Bulwark.”The other fellow nods, setting the long case on the ground and opening it up. He lifts out a cylindrical black staff with a complex series of glass-like threads that appear on the surface of the smooth weapon, making it look like a carved piece of exotic wood. Armin holds the staff vertically and in front of him, and with a loud energetic scream, armor-like pieces start quickly growing out of the air and on to the staff - a hand, becoming an arm and a body until it’s a complete set. The armor has grey, metal-appearing sectional plates on the upper arms, torso, upper legs, and on the sides and behind the helmet, while the rest is a thick padded cloth of some sort. Underneath the armor looks like a porcelain mannequin with a featureless face. Armin releases the staff while the figure maintains hold and stays unmoving. Vakaumus: ”This is Bulwark. It was the first of numerous experiments by our master constructor to create a weapon that also materializes armor to protect its user. This one we have tweaked to aid in the specific task of training a nullifier, meaning it is the closest we can simulate to the artifact you will be tasked with controlling, called Lucida. The armor that Bulwark forms is based on our studies of Lucida so the two are very similar. Bulwark, step closer.”The armor walks closer to you and Vakaumus while holding the staff, only stopping when the old man gestures for it to halt. Vakaumus: ”When Lucida finds it is unable to kill you with its fire and light-based magic, it will attempt to crush you with its armor, which is much more resilient to nullification. Try your hand at destroying this armor here, don’t worry about damaging the weapon.”____________________ Conditions:Health: 50/50 Stamina: 5/5 Mana: 7/7 AP: 3/3 Captured Spells (0/2) Name: P’orihc (Asklar) Race: Chirop ____________________ "But I'm really not interested in taking sides, I can't feel identified with any. If only this conflict could finish and everyone could go back to minding their own business. Sadly that won't happen without the mandatory bloodshed, lives going to waste. Such a pity.
So, Mons of the Second. What can you tell me about them? Do you think they might share knowledge with me, even if I didn't want to join them?"Red Mage: ”The Mons of the Second here influences a lot of Esthen’s politics, so they’ve a lot of say in what goes on. The protection they offer to people is one of those results. In terms of magic, they have many highly skilled mages, and I’m sure you’d be able to find some who would be willing to share knowledge with you even if you don’t join the Mons.”____________________ Conditions:Health: 40/40 Stamina: 2/2 Mana: 10/10 AP: 2/2 Telepathic AP: 1/1 -Mind Guard (+6 Telepathy Resistance) Name: Ki’stha (Roast Veg) Race: Chirop ____________________ "Hi there, we're looking for a friend, have you had visitors?"Kyeltziv: "He's a bit of an odd guy, you'd know him if you saw him."Man: ”Hmm, I think I know who you’re talking about. Let me see if I can show you to him...”He leads you into the temple sanctuary, to the side to enter the left wing of the building before asking another man if he’s seen “Vakaumus.” It isn’t long after that the three of you are led to an exit in the back of the temple, where numerous other buildings belonging to the Second reside. The man takes you to a large dome, called the “Isolation Dome,” where your friend is apparently training in magic. The door to the facility is currently shut. Man: ”You might want to be careful about opening it up, a sudden blast of magic coming out would be a nasty way to end the day.”____________________ Conditions:Health: 40/40 Stamina: 2/2 Mana: 10/10 AP: 2/2 Name: Kyeltziv (Amazigh) Race: Lupus ____________________ Ki’stha: "Hi there, we're looking for a friend, have you had visitors?""He's a bit of an odd guy, you'd know him if you saw him."Man: ”Hmm, I think I know who you’re talking about. Re: Ad Infidium (Roll 72)
Roll 72 The world as the players know it: (John is in Algus, rest of players are in Esthen) Name: John Freemaneth (TorrentHKU) Race: Human ____________________ You hold up a gold coin "Will this cover it? Not sure what prices are like around Algus."Haiva: ”Uh, yeah, that looks like a good amount for a lesson.”She takes the gold and flicks it out of existence. Haiva: ”So, you got the basics down. Hmm… You have anything specific in mind that you’re aiming for?”____________________ Conditions:Health: 50/50 Stamina: 4/4 Mana: 7/7 AP: 3/3 Evasion AP: 2/2 Fortification AP: 1/1 Name: Kleigg (TheKebbit) Race: Human ____________________ You draw your sword and begin furiously chopping at the figure, your weapon hardly scratching the armor. It seems to take… Minor damage? Some slight dents and scratches from your assault, but appears to be slowly repairing itself as well, dents smoothing over and scratches sealing closed. The others watch you with, interest, until there’s some knocking on the door of the dome. Vakaumus: ”You may enter.”The door opens, revealing Kis’tha, Kyeltziv, and Miimas. Vakaumus: ”Are you friends of this man here?”He gestures towards you. ____________________ Conditions:Health: 50/50 Stamina: 5/5 Mana: 7/7 AP: 1/3 Captured Spells (0/2) Name: P’orihc (Asklar) Race: Chirop ____________________ "Thanks, I'll get going now."It’s just a hunch, but you think the others are at the Mons of the Second. Well, not John, you’re not exactly sure where he went. It doesn’t take long to locate the temple. It’s immense, the huge sanctuary where the congregation would be held to the wings that make up the left and right sides of the structure holding a multitude of rooms most likely. A wide flight of stairs lead to the large doorway, and above is the same emblem the robed men had - a sun with seven flames, sitting over a sort of triangle with steps for the sides. A nice guy in a robe guides you through the building, out the rear exit, where you see a host of other buildings behind the Mons, all property of the Second. The one called the Isolation Dome, a large stone dome, has three of figures standing in front of its opened doorway, the trio being Ki’stha, Kyeltziv, and Miimas. ____________________ Conditions:Health: 40/40 Stamina: 2/2 Mana: 10/10 AP: 2/2 Telepathic AP: 1/1 -Mind Guard (+6 Telepathy Resistance) Name: Ki’stha (Roast Veg) Race: Chirop ____________________ There’s a loud series of sounds of metal striking metal from within the dome, and after they stop you knock on the door, hopefully getting the attention of anyone inside. ??? (inside): ”You may enter.”Kyeltziv opens up the door, where you find the inside of the dome lit with artificial lights, probably magic. The stone walls are covered with glassy lines making it look like a giant spider wed, and in the middle of the bare-earth floor is Kleigg. He has a sword in hand and looks like he just had a go at an armored figure wielding a staff. Not far from them is an old man and a younger fellow. Old Man: ”Are you friends of this man here?”He gestures towards Kleigg. ____________________ Conditions:Health: 40/40 Stamina: 2/2 Mana: 10/10 AP: 2/2 Name: Kyeltziv (Amazigh) Race: Lupus ____________________ There’s a loud series of sounds of metal striking metal from within the dome, and after they stop Ki’stha knocks on the door, hopefully getting the attention of anyone inside. ??? "Well so far I've just been learning for learning's sake really. Trying to see what works for me. I've got a good handle on Kinetics, but I don't think a construct would be too helpful for me there. Though, I had an idea mid lesson. What do you know about living constructs? Or, well, not 'living', but ones that can move and follow orders on their own."

"Hello, friends!"
>Turn away from the armor. Attacking it with a shortsword is useless.
"Vakaumus - does a reversal of magic polarity affect magical artifacts in any way, or just the effects they produce? I will need heavier arms and more fighting strength before I face Lucida. A great hammer, perhaps?"

What do you know about living constructs? Or, well, not 'living', but ones that can move and follow orders on their own."Haiva: ”Are you talking about the ones that are spirited or something else? Like, can store instructions and execute them, a golem? Spirited constructs are rare, golems not as much.
Golems used to be made by having a massive amount of conduit forming tons of little logic gates, but they’ve been made simpler by just having a sort of ‘memory’ crystal that stores complex instructions instead of having to wire it. Makes changes easier.
Spirited constructs aren’t well understood on how they work, just what they do. If a construct has the ‘spirit trap’ sequence, and there isn’t a spirit in the construct, your spirit gets put into the construct if you die while holding it. Or something like that. There was an ancient spell that spread across most of the world that implanted the sequence into any construct within range that was complex enough to support the sequence.”____________________ Conditions:Health: 50/50 Stamina: 4/4 Mana: 7/7 AP: 3/3 Evasion AP: 2/2 Fortification AP: 1/1 Name: Kleigg (TheKebbit) Race: Human ____________________ "Hello, friends!"You turn away from the armor and face Vakaumus while your friends talk amongst themselves.. It will be your weapon when you have the strength to control it.”____________________ Conditions:Health: 50/50 Stamina: 5/5 Mana: 7/7 AP: 2/3 Captured Spells (0/2) Name: P’orihc (Asklar) Race: Chirop ____________________ You get close to Ki’stha, Kyeltziv, and Miimas, close enough that you can also see Kleigg inside the dome with three others. "Nine hells, that sounds terrifying. Who would DO something like that? But golems sound like what I meant. I was thinking of basic weaponized constructs, just small ones that could be made and deployed in a fight. Something to fly in an enemy's face and be a problem to them. Or worse, potentially." > Make a 7 mana Mana Stone. "Hrmph. That's all I've got right now."

"No, I won't join any cult. Gods smite me if I ever do.
And the red mage, he said something about the Mons of the Second playing a big part in Esthen's politics, offering them protection, and they might have a plan to prevent war."
