The lightsaber looks like it's shittier than normal lightsabers, I wonder if this is supposed to be a long time after the rebels otherthrow the emperor and a bunch of advanced technology was forgotten.

The handguards just dont serve much of a purpose I think cause a lightsaber would slice through the metal-y bits that the side wards facing beams stem from?

Thought that too, it's probably one of the dumbest idea for a lightsaber imo. Plus it looks horrible! What next, light axes/maces?

The idea is to have a crossguard, but it's poorly executed. If you can make the emitters lightsaber-proof, which would have to be the case since they jut out from the side and could get sliced off easily if they weren't, you wouldn't need the lightsaber part at all.

What about lightsaber football

If it's emitting from the "center" of the lightsaber, then that guard would block the hit but that would be silly design. And I don't think it is a practical design at all, it limits your movements because you could easily cut your hand off with it. I disliked that saber, Star Wars lightsabers have a unique style that don't resemble much the swords that exist nowadays, and it looks fugly.

Yeah this. It's just to prevent an opponent from slicing off your fingers with another saber.

can you slide a lightsaber across the blade of another? are the handles lightsaber-proof?
