Speaking of Skin, the people who made my avatar (Swans), did a short side project mostly focusing on the founding member Gira, and the female vocalist Jarboe.
It's called Skin / The World of Skin, and they did neofolk and darkwave, which was really interesting.

i know nothing about fire emblem but the new smash makes me wonder what its about
if i were to play any of the games, where should i start?

Fire Emblem 7, then Fire Emblem 6 (About Eliwood, and then Roy in FE6)
or
The Sacred Stones (not Smash related, very fun FE title)
or
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, then Radiant Dawn (about Ike, the Black Knight, and war)

(Three separate stories)

Avoid Awakening and Shadow Dragon like the plague
Marth is in the Fire Emblem 1 and Shadow Dragon

but ive heard other people saying awakening is good

I heard Awakening has boring maps and later on in the game forces to use the pairing system because of the high stats of the enemies.

It was really difficult keeping up with the plot development in the most recent episode of Sword Art Online

The problem is that it dumbs down tactics, makes development of stats too open ended, removes the magic triangle, removes permadeaths, and turns the story mode into a visual novel with too much pandering. It goes against the core style of the game in favor of galge gamers.

"Oh no they made you stop cutting your teeth in every battle in favor of fun, 0/10 filthy casual game for filthy casuals"

Yeah it's a radical departure from previous Fire Emblems, but take it as its own then. It's still a very enjoyable experience, even if it's different from all the rest of the Fire Emblems.
I will acknowledge that shipping your characters and having them pair up every battle becomes pretty much mandatory though.

Is this a strawman argument?

I like the permadeath feature in the FE games, it makes it so you can't just throw someone into a crowd of enemies to serve as a decoy. You have a limited number of units and you have to act based on that.

Unlike games like Final Fantasy Tactics where you can give someone a suicide order and then they come back alive at the end of the battle.

Also, didn't in Final Fantasy Tactics your guys die forever? Like, if you didn't save them fast enough? I got bad memories from that ;n;

Not in FFTA2 at least. In the original FFT and War of the Lions, there was permadeath, yeah.

I'm gonna go off on a limb and assume you don't play tactics games
