Lord Paramount Caerik the Great Dragon is dead! At eighty five years of age, kinda incredible for the medieval era.

Unfortunately...I'm in a bit of a situation.

You see, his heir (Corris) died before him and by succession law, then Sigurd became heir.

He died of pneumonia, a common killer it seems.

Fortunately I saw this coming and made it an elective monarchy so I could select the best person in the dynasty to inherit. I had expected him to make it to ninety or even a hundred, so I selected my eight year old bastard son (who won the genetic lottery) to be my heir.

Then Caerik promptly died. And in the time since the post earlier there have been a lot of changes. We're now a Lord Paramountship, functionally a kingdom. We've got a new Valyrian steel sword, too. I had a fun eventline to get it, and it's called Blackfyre.

Oh, and slavery. It's hard to micromanage slave courtiers, since you have to get them to breed with one another and ideally you want positive genetic traits, since that makes them more valuable. Fun times.

i was under the impression bastards weren't able to continue in your name and not able to inherit your titles.

They're just last in line as far as I know. Half blood is still better than no blood.

That, and if they are badass, or if other powers have enough interest in them, they could honestly be a suitable rival-heir.

You can legitimize them.

As was the case with Aegon IV, who legitimized his bastard son Daemon, handing the Valyrian Steel sword Blackfyre to him rather than his heir. Which incited the uh, Blackfyre Rebellion.
