It's pretty funny seeing Mackarel all upset at some new kid when he was in that chair not so long ago.
Anyways I don't see what all the fuss is about. Haloman is not a jerkbag trying to make people feel bad. Haloman is not an evil overlord trying to force his will upon us. Haloman didn't even wipe the forums. He is just a guy who doesn't have a lot of experience on forums and is a little messy with his organization and presentation of thoughts. We've dealt with people who are much, much worse- many of whom became integral members of the community.
Haloman is better than us in some ways. All of us have bad habits which we will keep forever, but not Haloman. His lack of experience means that he is still a bubbling cauldron of change and anything could emerge from the sociological ooze. He could be the next grif or Shook, or zalo. He could end up being another shitlord, but there's no telling. So I don't think it's time to bring out the torches and pitchforks just yet. Honestly I think he's genuinely funny at times, intentionally or not.

Re: The Lounge
I find it unbelievable that you all still care that much about haloman.
In other news, Matlab is a giant pile of contradictory standards that make no sense in the realm of a modern programming language/environment.
You cannot
Code:
function(a, b, c, d, e, f)
You must instead
Code:
functionHeader(a, b, c,... d, e, f)
And it will not tell you why it is broken.
When creating a GUI through their GUI builder (GUIDE), making a button callback looks like
Code:
callback(hObject, eventdata, handles)
Where handles is the "global" data storage device (global to the window, different windows will have different handles structs). When creating a GUI without GUIDE, defining the callbacks yourself, making a button callback looks like
There's more but I don't remember them off the top of my head, I've been doing this too long and it's just become second nature. Like all the English ♥♥♥♥.

Re: The Lounge
Uni classes will force you to use it (and it does have some pretty powerful matrix and math capabilities and libraries for CV and stuff)
It's also good for processing of large datasets
But I'm not too enamored with it either

Re: The Lounge
I had no idea matlab had a GUI thing.
I still use matlab as a more powerful calculator for my classes.

Re: The Lounge
It was recently added. I'm using it as part of a grant to show that GUIDE is a thing and it's cool. Honestly it's no worse than VB, and a bunch of the language inconsistencies only surface if you try to do fancy things.
I find it unbelievable that you all still care that much about haloman.
honestly, this. after reading back a few pages i feel like everyone should just leave him alone if they dont like him. he doesn't have to conform to your guys' grammatical standards. i understand if he's misbehaving to call him out on it, but there's no reason to respond with hostility, it just adds to the problem.
