And then when you're having a completely reasonable conversation about perfectly legitimate issues, these kinds of people jump in and start tactlessly lambasting the "other side" of the argument. You can't call them out on it, because they'll just get defensive and derail the thread, but you also can't ignore them, because they'll continue to drain your argument of any actual meaning and replace it with sheer vitriol.

It drives me nuts. Like, I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people in this world who could get on board with feminism if there wasn't always that one person who feels the need to drop in and say "WELL YOU BETTER BE A FEMINIST OR YOU'RE A ♥♥♥♥ MRA" before anyone can even get across what the ♥♥♥♥ we're talking about.

I don't really like putting a label on myself, because a lot of things mean more than it should. You say "feminist" nowadays and a lot of people are going to think of the extremist women who want to exterminate men, if you say "vegan" they'll probably associate you with PETA or something, and so on.

So, I try not to use any labels. People who ask "What are you?" or "Are you X?" I don't really find worth talking to, while people who ask "What do you think about X?" or something similar are usually better for conversation.

My door is always open for chat as long as you are reasonable. I'm not fond of extremists in general (Though I imagine no one is fond of extremists) and what CC says is true. I don't like to say I am something because people will then tend to associate that with other things.
