With the scan cleared up the first orbital is an asteroid class object with an average atmosphere of 0.98 Atmos. Terran normal or close enough. This distance from the star has left the surface cold but otherwise habitable with most of the planet given over to a lush green hue. Great clouds drift across the high atmosphere. An above average metal content is detected While the mineral content is either nothing, or beyond the range of your sensors.

The last planet in the system is a desert planet with an incredibly thick atmosphere maintaining a very high surface temperature despite the freezing distance from the systems star. Strange signals are coming from the planets surface although the planets atmosphere reduces them to unintelligible garbage.

The Fourth planet matches the best habitation, its only negatives are a low surface gravity.
The Second planet is second in the list of most habitable planets using air-locked habitats the surface's high resource content would serve for a good extraction base.

The nearest star is 8 turns away, directly coreward, Alternatively a surveyor pod could make it in 5 turns.

A Com's array is sent to manufacturing aboard the station, designed to be stowed away aboard a surveyor pod and unpacked either in space or on the ground as the unit would not survive re-entry. ETA 1 more turn.

The 4th planet's thick atmosphere is laden laden with radioactive material, its surface is an approximation of Terran normal with great mutated plant-life fighting the extreme heat and radioactive firestorms.

IEF Conquest
Scan the terran-like world for good settling places, preferably grassland with good access to water.
The scanners take in the planets terrain picking out a location on the equator where the temperature is more favorable. The planets low gravity would allow an ion powered return flight to commence should personnel need to be shuttled to and from.

The aerodyne craft each drop 20 people (including 3 pilots) shuttle down the first 36 and the second shuttle takes down a cache of supplies. Forgoing the empty gunnery station the shuttles are able to cart down an additional person.

Mining Equipment

Currently the colonists are living out of the aerodyne craft. A request is put forward for manufacturing facilities to be constructed and shipped to the surface for more permanent housing.

The Aerodyne craft make a second drop of materials including the mining equipment. (stats in the above turn include this turn)

Both Aerodyne craft have suffered some light damage to their landing gear during the rough landings however both remain operational.

Moving closer the scanners working the planets surface over. The Surveyor pods are prepared with 9 people 1 pilot in each craft. The sensors pick up a few options depending on your aims.

>A large flat desert area. non-self sustainable, but large mineral deposits detected.
>A equatorial peninsula that would allow the best return flight and serve as a better global control stating point.
>A large grassy plains area best for building up with large areas to construct initial agriculture and housing.

The planets gravity is around 0.5g.

Colonists with basic construction materials await your decision of landing site.

An initial brain storming session results in a few avenues of research that are open to the lab.
1) reinforcing the intial superstructure with added material.
2) Stronger sensors for detection and tracking of craft.
3) Advancing the Point defense array's with new ammo
4) Advancements in cooling / power capacitors for the ships main particle accelerator.


Whelp lets 6 man this. Though im calling that the hard limit.
Bucephalas
Arriving at the star the mostly barren orbits contain only two planets.

The first a Volcanic planet with a toxic atmosphere of caustic chemicals, Sensors return a near 0 reading of minerals and below average metal content. The planets ecosystem is functional albiet not pleasnat for humans.

The second planet possess terran normal atmosphere however its planet hugging orbit leaves it with a hot surface temperature. The planets surface is a wave of dust storms the static surface below almost undetectable. The planet contains an unprecedented amount of mineral content, even the dust itslef is shards of minerals blown into the upper atmosphere.

Caelus
Arriving at the red-dwarf closest to empire lines, Several planets are detected in orbit around the star.

The first planet a snowy tundra with a terran normal atmosphere and a surface temperature slightly bellow terran normal. Mineral content is blow terran normal while metal content is terran normal.

The first planets sole moon is a desert rock with thick atmosphere and terran normal surface temperature. A stark opposite of its parent planet possessing a thick atmosphere and below average metal content while terran normal mineral content.

Further out a lone rock planet orbits just shy of the systems asteroid belt With low gravity and an extremely cold surface temperatures. Terran normal metal and mineral contents.

The systems asteroid belt contains a single moonlet with high gravity accumulating more asteroids as it goes, the moonlet itself posesses a radioactive atmosphere. The asteroid belt and moonlet contain a record breaking concentration of metals representing an avenue for resource exploitation.

The planet I intended to drop on was the 4th planet I had already moved to orbit in the previous action. I hope that action will go through retroactively.

Depends on how serious the colony, basically drop a pod, build a hut. There name it "bubbas shack on the moon" and youre done. Or you can go all out and build a city.

Basically command a surveyor pod to cart some materials to the surface and some people. Due to the low gravity you will be able to perform a round trip, higher gravity planets would require more than an ion drive.

Surveyor Pods (Comes with the Size 1 Craft) Is 9 People, 1 Pilot and 1 Unit of Cargo. Or

Aerodyne Transports (Comes with the Size 2 Craft) Is 17 People with 2 Pilots and 1 Gunner (Gunnery Station unused if no guns are fitted) Along with 2 units of cargo Alternatively they may be fitted with 10 units of cargo in place of the personnel.

To the yet to be named Planet 4? Yep. The low surface gravity would allow the ion drives to return.
And it comes with 2 of the craft.

Tell the colonists to start production of housing and buildings suitable to contain industrial machinery. Make sure they give them basements.

Have a few of the colonists start work on a dirt runway to ease the burden on the Aerodynes to reduce the probability of landing gear damage.

Ship down remaining industrial machinery, the refining equipment, manufacturing tools and agricultural equipment and store them temporarily in the basements.
