I HIT IT WITH MY AXE
A game about hitting things, and not hitting things with your axe as a Dwarven Barbarian
MICRO GAME
CHARACTER CREATION wrote:
Name: [Color the whole line; Bold the name]
AXE: [You have 15 tokens to spread between these two stats]
Not AXE:
[Pick One of Two Vigors]
BLOODLUST -- [+1 Red Tokens in AXE, when you Kill something Spectacularly]
THE THINKER -- [+1 Blue Tokens in Not AXE, when you Overcome something with Sheer Wit]
STARTING OFF
Each point in
AXE, and
Not AXE are converted into red tokens, and blue tokens.
ROLLING
Your rolls are based on the amount of tokens you spend.
When rolling
AXE, if you use a Red Token, you get a d6, otherwise a d4; likewise with Not
Not AXE, and Blue Tokens.
Each additional token you spend steps up the roll.
[1d4, 1d6, 1d8, 1d10, 1d12, 1d12 + 1d4, ... etc]
Spent tokens are moved to the other stat, and their color is preserved.
When rolling to overcome a Challenge, ask yourself one question: Are you fighting [Roll
AXE]? or not [Roll
Not AXE]?
The easiest a Challenge can be is a 1d4, and the hardest is a 2d12.
[Exceptions may apply.]
You win if you roll higher, and get some
Glory.
If you tie or lose, you lose one token permanently.
When you run out of tokens, you lose all your
Glory.
BOASTING
Before you Kill, or Not Kill things, you must start with the Boasting Phase.
Any person may start a Bout of Boasting, and it is until someone concedes that someone concedes, that someone goes on a Quest.
When Boasting, you either add
One Glory to a Challenge, saying you can do better, or you add a Challenge to the Boast.
[Each
Glory Token on a Challenge steps up the die, starting with a 1d4]
The person who doesn't concede gets tasked with the Boast, and goes on a Quest.
QUESTING
So you accepted a Quest?
The Challenges can be one of two kinds:
AXE or
Not AXE, but it is up to the Quester, as to how they respond.
If their response doesn't make sense, they only get
Half Glory fo the Challenge.
Anyone not a part of the Quest can continue to go about their Boasting, or Narrating the Quester's Quest. This continues until one of things happens.
- You need to abscond. [You only get Half Glory for whatever Glory you've gotten over the duration of the Quest]
- You successfully complete all the Challenges in the Quest. [You get Full Glory for whatever Glory you've gotten over the duration of the Quest]
- You are Defeated. [You get Zero Glory, and you lose all of your Glory]
What does the DM do?
Yes, this game doesn't need a DM/GM, but ♥♥♥♥ that.
I will handle the rolls, and I will appropriate the Challenges.
It is up to the players to make up their Boasts [and its Escalation], and whatever Story Details they want.
[At the end of the road, the DM has the final say, but as long as there is a consensus, it shouldn't matter.]
