Paint on Win8 is just paint 7 and that'd be a no to fitting CC's palette.

Sadly! There's many tools I would want on Paint XP that are only available in Vista/7/8 Paint, and I am too lazy to download another program.

Paint XP is perfectly fine; I prefer its simplicity.
To my knowledge there aren't very many tools that Windows Vista/7/8 paint offers that would be of use, could you elaborate?

If you do decide to do a simple download and install, Paint.net is really good!

I find Paint.net really damn hard to use, since I used MS Paint so damn much I cry whenever I look for a simple button like the goddamn eraser.

Hence why I said paint xp has it's simplicity virtue!

However, most more advanced image editors will take some getting used to.
Once you do though, it'll be quite useful in your spriting adventures.

Making me using Paint.net is like asking me to take off a An-22...too much buttons! xD

and, I was talking for example about the star thingy. manually making stars are annoying.

(Your username suits very well with you by the way! xD)

Oh, making shapes.

Well while the shape tools inside paint vista/7/8 are seemingly quick and easy, in the long run they wont always give you the image you want.
As an alternative, it should be possible to copy - paste the finished product from windows vista/7/8 to paint xp without compression and therefore not screwing up the palette.
Not sure if that's the case though.

Why on Earth would you want to use the shape tool for CC sprites? There is no use for them that would not look light-years better hand-pixel'd.
