okay this is how i see furry, people are taking it way too seriously when they make it their lifestyle. furry is just a theme, in art, movies, literature, what have you. it bothers me more than anything when people act like they're oppressed for being a furry like they were born that way- you have the choice to call yourself a furry, and the choice to not consider yourself a furry.

"FURSECUTION!!" how can anyone even take that word seriously? you got to choose to label yourself as such a thing because of some interests you have- you are not being persecuted. being a furry is not a part of your identity, no, stop. you are marginalizing real persecution that people are suffering for, such as race, gender, sexuality, etc.

i also don't care how open people are about being interested in furry themes, using them as display pics and reaction images is your personal choice, as long as you understand that people don't always feel the same about it. don't EXPECT people to be nice to you about it because the furry fandom as a whole is generally looked down on by people on the internet, especially if they're associated with places like 4chan. this is also how i feel about otherkin. if you feel like you are a giraffe at heart, then power to you, but don't expect other people to hold this in high regard.

the whole chart with the levels of furry thing is totally misleading because you don't HAVE to be a furry to enjoy these things. they are just themes.. anyone can enjoy them.


too be honest i think it's great that you were supporting an artist that you like and you probably made them very happy, it is empowering to choose your own prices and then have that be received well. i do have my opinions on the price vs. quality but i will keep them to myself because in the end it's really not my place (or anyone elses) to tell them how to price their art. if they sold it for $1000 i would gawk and probably laugh about it, but still they should be proud they can sell for the prices they choose, and if you feel the art is worth what you paid and you are happy with it, then i am happy for you as well. not to mention $6 is virtually nothing, i have seen 50x50 pixel icons sell for $25 and up and in a lot of cases the buyer could have gone somewhere else to get the same quality for far less, but they choose not to because they want to support an artist theyre familiar with.

LMAO i tend to agree, but i mean that kind of stuff is fairly harmless (as long as theyre not trivializing other groups of people's problems by pretending like theyre an oppressed group of individuals). also remember when it comes to art, everyone starts somewhere.. as long as they are trying their best there is no reason to disdain them. people who REFUSE to learn to improve are the toxic ones.
