Now please tell me how Donald Duck is anything less than 2 on that chart. Besides that unpleasant mental image, i believe the formal definition of furry is that you identify with such characters, not necessarily that you want to bang them.

It's not quite as clear cut as that, but granted, funny animals and furries aren't necessarily the same. I'd still like to hear your opinion on whether furries can, in fact, just be casual fans instead of rampant ♥♥♥♥, because the entire point of that 4chan ragepost is that every single furry would like nothing else than to bang an animal(wo)man to the moon and back, and every single thing a furry does refers to that act. To me, at least, furry refers to a fandom, not necessarily a fetish, and even if someone does have it as a fetish, i don't care about it. But why would i not want to fight feverishly for my right to be a human male with an interest in human females on the internet? Tolerance, my dear.

basically what non said
the thing is that the casual fans are there, but you don't know they are, because they understand that people will hate them for their taste and don't care enough to defend themselves

Sup, non-vocal furry here.
Though on occasion I put cats as my avatar because they're cute as ♥♥♥♥.

I may associate with some small furry triangle-creature with a big X on its face and no hands that I've been drawing in the margines of my papers since I was in third grade, but I am not one. If someone on the interne were to ask for I picture of me , I would never show a crudely drawn triangle-creature, I'd probably use my current avatar (which doesn't really look like me). But a furry might show a furry-thing, just as crudely drawn.

Legitimately interested in seeing this thing now. Pic?

I was preparing to hide in a bomb shelter for the potential argument in here.

I'm pleasantly surprised that was not necessary.

I find cats pretty mehish. I've never really liked them, though. Nor animals in general for that fact.

Except beagles. Those guys look adorable.

And Alaskan Malamutes.

And Siberian Huskies. A lot of them have blue eyes, which I think is a rare trait for dogs.

Okay, so maybe I do like some animals.

That does make some sense, of course, but the exact problem i'm highlighting is that even the casuals risk being hated for their taste. I find that fact to be an appalling display of disrespect for fellow intelligent beings.

@Non: That sounds more like it's the art quality (or lack thereof) that's bothering the ♥♥♥♥ out of you, not so much what it's depicting. I am reasonably sure, however, that if the people who identify themselves with crudely drawn furries could draw better, they would do so. It's not that particular drawing they're identifying with, but the character it depicts, which in their head probably looks a lot better than on the canvas. Having known the striking difference between mental image and actual image for a while now, i find it rather hard to fault people for not being supreme artists.

Also, the amount of furries who genuinely think they're not human is comparatively small. Some people may be roleplaying their avatars on the internet, for better or worse (which means it can be annoying regardless of what they're roleplaying), but you can be reasonably sure that the majority of them are still well aware that they're humans. Some oddballs still remain though, and granted, i might find it weird and possibly creepy, but i'm not going to go curse them out for it, since it's extremely unlikely to change anything anyways, and just plain disrespectful.

I confess, i'm not above being annoyed by overly flagrant displays of furry pride (my thoughts toward them can be summed up as "ok you're furry that's fine"), but not more so than overly flagrant displays of ANYTHING-pride. If someone plastered their avatar and entire signature with flashing "master rubiks cube solver" images, i'm probably going to be every bit as irked by that as if the same was done with furry-themed images, but that's just because it's obnoxious. Both parts should ideally treat each other with equal servings of respect.

And now i'm starting to lose track of why we even got into furry discussion in the first place. Perhaps i should just call it quits before i say something even dumber than i've already said. :I

What I think about furries

Furry art can be good
If you like furry stuff, cool
If you're a die-hard into furry stuff, I can appreciate it but will probably not want to be your friend
If you don't shut the ♥♥♥♥ up about furry stuff, it can harsh my mellow
If you go out of your way to bring up that you're a furry all the time, then there's a problem
If you believe in fursecution, you are not my friend
If you believe humans are terrible and wish everyone was a furry (my sister is like this), then I'm sick of you
If you make furry image macros to respond to everything I say, I'll literally go into a fit of rage

And on the subject of Vlads avatar, it's not that it's furry. It's that it's really poorly drawn, like it was made by a ten year old on catspawisland. And for six dollars to boot? My girlfriend would offer you a free one out of sympathy if you showed her. She does six dollar portraits as well

For those of you who don't know what catspawisland is... It's part of a series of websites called "chatlands". Websites hosting graphical chatrooms in which people can make their avatar whatever they want, as long as it revolves around a sites individual theme. Catspawisland is centered around cats, and is populated by an immense amount of tweens who are fans of the Warriors series (not the cool gang movie, the lame books about cats). If you pop into their forums and check their marketplace, you'll find many artists at the same level as Vlads avatar; also plenty of ... interesting specimens. Some trivia, chatlands, especially their biggest website known as Wolfhome, is a big den/haven for otherkin, and just sitting in a room watching people talk is one of the most fun things you could ever do. I'll respect furries, but otherkin... hah.

I don't know. I agree with the 4chan dude for the most part. It's a niche thing that's shoved down peoples throats. Sexual or not, I don't want to see it. I don't care if you like it, but I don't. Goes for pretty much any internet advertisement from the early 2000 too. Crude, pillowy, art.

Am I 4chan dude?

Ah yeah, I've read that argument before. It's been re-appropriated as more than a fetish, however. It's certainly valid on 4chan, since 4chan furries are the worst, and are overly fetishistic. Or should I say... were the worst. They were eclipsed first by underages, then redditors, then ponies, then both combined, then /pol/ nazis.

/pol/ nazis bother me much more than redditors, which were previously my biggest problem.
If I see one more "JIDF" or "goy" or "shilling", I'm going to quit 4chan temporarily
When I say /pol/ nazis. I mean /pol/ nazis on all boards, as I don't go to /pol/ at all. It's worse than /b/
