We just don't have a big ship, and won't have our own rooms to sleep in. We'll sleep in a pile.


Not to worry, from what I was reading of the other group, their ship is currently impaled on a giant fist so we're probably better off than them. Maybe if we hit the motherload we can catch up.

Group the first comes from a small kingdom, and is essentially a royally funded exploration expedition. Their ship is small, but well constructed, and has everything they will (reasonably) need in terms of supplies. Provisions, small repairs, miscellaneous bits, chances are their ship has some in the hold. They also set out equipped with whatever they needed, courtesy of the royal treasury and armory. However, yes, it has recently been fisted.

Group the Second has none of that. You'll have to worry about food (eventually), your boat is small and not at all combat worthy, and it's basically just a vessel to get around, rather than a base of operations like Group the First's ship is.

But that's all. Past that, Group the First is mostly on their own as you are, since running back home crying at the first sign of hardship would be frowned upon by the kingdom.
I mean, I won't stop them, but they might get punished for hitting the "WAAAH FIX IT" button rather than solving their own problems.
