How about something recent?

Did you hear about the no-show concert with the projector showing a suicide note about Death Grips?

Punks here in Phoenix pretty much just worship Andrew Jackson Jihad, as well as mos /mu/tants
Mostly a folk punk group, as well as part of the anti-folk movement (going against folk stereotypes).
Their recent album, however, sailed into more electric and distorted waters; well pulled off compared to most indie-switches that occur as of late.
They mostly sing about depression, which is why I stopped listening to them regularly. They've also got a big Mountain Goats vibe

More folky:

More punky:

Recommended albums: Knife Man, People Who Can Eat People Are The Luckiest People, Only God Can Judge Me EP

Yeah i get what you're saying about Mum and Macklemore. Mainstream listeners are more likely to listen to stuff that appeals to the common listener, not general listeners of a certain genre most of the time, part of the pop genre being interwoven with everything else. Also great to see another celtic punk fan around, I eventually want to go to a Flogging Molly concert (I'm underage).

Hipster is a buzzword, though. It's easier to just say music fan. Or "indie" depending on the context. This rant by someone else elaborates a bit.

I've been to 3. You want it, they're so awesome live.

Well most of what I listen to is obscure, but I shouldn't be labeled as a hipster for it, know what I mean. And this has actually happened to me quite a few times.
From what I've seen, people who call themselves hipsters are just trying to be trendy.. Unless they're trying to bring back the old definition from the 40's.

Not just that Floggin Molly have great live shows, but they're like big festivals where everyone gets drunk and ♥♥♥♥ too. Celtic punk can be a little samey, as it has to kind of stick to the same folk sound, whereas regular folk punk has bigger boundaries.

I just learned that there is no difference between Nu-Disco and French House.
Why aren't they just one thing

Please tell me there's some sort of rivalry between fans of the two genres.

Oh, and they aren't the same thing because people like overly-specific genres for some reason.

French house refers to the french flavor of nu-disco, like Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk. The slight difference is that it has more filtering in general.
Not like a rivalry, more like. "disco sux dood"

Nine Inch Nails - Hesitation Marks is better than I thought it would be. It includes improved versions of the lackluster singles, including the notable terrible "Everything". Give it a listen if you're into NiN, or industrial dance.
