It's not necessarily intentional. I (used to) play guitar and I currently do some piano, and I often lean back and forth out of habit when playing, either from different postures making it slightly easier to play a specific segment or just subconscious movements, like how some people cross their arms when angry, bite nails/tap foot when nervous, etc.

Edit: Also keeping the beat. Most people just tap their foot, but sometimes people move their instrument or rock back in forth without realizing it.
