PS4 is about the only decent console that's been announced and even then it doesn't exactly have a super exciting line-up.

inFamous: Second Son, Watch Dogs, Battlefield 4, The Witcher 3, The Witness, Destiny, Knack, something by MediaMolecule (LBP), something by Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain/Beyond: Two Souls), Batman: Arkham Origins, Thief.

Hell of a lot more exciting than any launch title sets this gen. More to come during E3, I'm sure.

If "being true to retro" means I liked it when the triple A advertised-everywhere games were more varied than the same shooter/RPG with the same antihero protagonist, then yeah. I can't step out the door without being hit with an ad for Halo this, CoD that, Assassins' Creed, shooting with movie-styled action sequences, et cetera. I almost can't tell them apart anymore except for the title/ending sequence.

Typical of "indie retro" gamers to polarize their stance on everything. Advertising for mainstream video games is as bad as hype for mediocre pixel games. Try focusing on things that aren't commercialism or unoriginal mimicry, and instead focus on the games, developers, new features, etc. There are ways to combat extreme commercialism without turning a brown eye to the modern world; it's up to our generation right now to actively fix what's happening instead of trying to move backwards culturally. To paraphrase, there are more things in modern media than rampant commercialism and cinematic glossy turds, and LOOK FORWARD.

True, I may buy one used depending on how things turn out, but I'm a primarily PC gamer nowadays so it'll take a lot of very good exclusives to convince.

That doesn't make all the shitty AAA games good.

Typical of HKU avoiding the central point. I suggest reading my post over again because it specifically stated:
Quote:
To paraphrase, there are more things in modern media than rampant commercialism and cinematic glossy turds

Which anyone can plainly see specifies that while there are more things in modern media than rampant commercialism and cinematic glossy turds, rampant commercialism and cinematic glossy turds still exist.

Please don't degrade the argument further with your poor observational skills

I DO see what THIS one has to do with them.

WAIT. DLC is "rampant commercialism".
Ok. So. You're saying there's more in the world than just shitty AAA games.
True. There are shitty indie games.

Duh didn't say he hates all triple-A games though, just the samey ones.
As for me, there aren't really any triple-A releases that I'd be interested in, unless you count games like Total Wars and Company of Heroes 2.

He's turning away from the next console generation because of the samey games. In doing so, he's neglecting new releases that aren't samey, such as the ones you mentioned.
