Can we call it the Xbone? I like that name because it teases it in a harmless way.

They have gone back to the days of animal skin clothes and Xbone tools.

Who'd have ever thought that'd turn into a meme?

Didn't see this originally, I will say everyone seems to love PS4 and it has a ♥♥♥♥ of a punch that certainly outclasses my PC (8GB GDDR5 RAM jesus christ) GPU is very solid too. Developers love the PC-based architecture. PSN is second only to Steam. Indie developers can self-publish games and Sony are actively encouraging / looking for indie startups.

As for games it, depending on your taste, has a good starting lineup as is and will be running all cross-plats at basically max settings (because again thank jesus for PC architecture) for a while

Assuming Sony have learned from pricing issues I really doubt it'll cost any more than $500 at an absolute max, and it'd be pretty difficult to assemble a PC with equivalent hardware at that price, let alone equivalent optimized performance (optimization is ♥♥♥♥ insane, do you see how these dinosaur consoles with 512mb of RAM are running games? pretty well)

So yeah it so far looks like a pretty great investment. Admittedly I'll wait at least a year for inevitable price drops and the smoothing out of first gen kinks.

Stop that. Being contrary and "true to retro" doesn't make you cool.

The Wii U is boring and as of right now a completely unremarkable launch compared to Wii's dominance

The Xbox One looks like melted turds on top of turds

2/3 is not bad

I'll change my tune if Sony is actually turning over a new leaf as far as their heavy-handedness with the PS3 sphere of indie gamers and hackers. As of now, a shiny new console with a ♥♥♥♥ company behind it still stinks to me, but I don't hold grudges if it's sincere.

If "being true to retro" means I liked it when the triple A advertised-everywhere games were more varied than the same shooter/RPG with the same antihero protagonist, then yeah. I can't step out the door without being hit with an ad for Halo this, CoD that, Assassins' Creed, shooting with movie-styled action sequences, et cetera. I almost can't tell them apart anymore except for the title/ending sequence.

Dunno about hackers but they are actively encouraging indie partnerships and will allow indie developers to self-publish.

I imagine that due to the PC architecture they might struggle even more with preventing hackers but I doubt they'll be super positive about them.
