In other news, I beat Stalker Clear Sky and I mean... what a mess the ending was. From catacombs (never see em), to outside the power plant, to on a bridge in 15 seconds. Then ugh the ending, it was so random. I couldn't hear the guy talking over all the gunfire and then the emission just hits. Strelok was all epileptic and I guess that's why he has amnesia? This was a prequel, right? To be honest it was hard to tell.

It's obvious that the monoliths kidnapped all of the stalkers to brainwash them (look at the TV screens and listen to the noise), not to "make them epileptic" (epilepsy doesn't cause amnesia). Strelok was brainwashed, but went comatose before the brainwashing could finish, so the monolith loaded him into a truck with dead people. It's canon that Monolith gets followers from brainwashing. The amnesia is part of the brainwashing progress, think of it as a mental block from your old memories.

Not that I plan on buying a new console and it may just be my Microsoft bias
But I like the Xbox One better and I don't know why everyone seems to favour the PS4

I hate how they're trying to throw on all these stupid features that have nothing to do with gaming. I want a machine that plays games, not a 'multimedia entertainment device' or whatever stupid bull♥♥♥♥ they wanna call it.

PS4 will have slightly better hardware (GDDR5 RAM and not just generic RAM, better GPU)

PS4 will, it seems, have some kind of option for playing used games- I think Sony said it'd be a publisher decision but Microsoft said across the board NO USED GAMES EVER. In fact, you can't even transfer games between your own accounts should you so desire to have a second account- your account will be tied to one Xbox One and the game will be tied to that pair. If you want to play your game at a buddy's house, I hope you bring your Xbox. If you wanted to borrow or trade games, lol gl

PS4 is focusing on actual games and has shown demonstrations of several exclusives while Xbox is focusing on generalized entertainment and highlighting bull♥♥♥♥ that is ages old (hurdur Blu-Ray etc); they are basically making a big deal out of these expanded features when 95% of them were already present in the PS3 seven years ago, stupid Kinect voice commands notwithstanding. The Xbox One looks like a glorified Roku that, by the way, can play video games- did you guys know it has Call of Duty and FIFA? Like every other platform?

Speaking of Call of Duty holy ♥♥♥♥ I cringed at the CoD demonstration. PC swims up to a fish, fish swims away, "NEXT GENERATION ADVANCED AI." Pointing out graphics that are inferior to current-generation games and praising them like they're demonstrating Crysis 4 or something. "LOOK SELF-SHADOWING!" Oh cool, a feature that was present on PS3 launch titles, you should feel so advanced you brave pioneers of fidelity

They didn't spend too much time on it but it seems Live will remain unjustifiably pricy when PSN free edition is already better and PSN+ is even more superior and cheaper

So basically saw absolutely nothing to be impressed by, a lot of pandering talk marketing to a casual "general entertainment" approach, zero interesting games. They said something about 15 exclusives at some point but if they're anything notable beyond a new Halo trilogy (I'm fairly certain this is a guarantee yeah?) and a new Forza or something, they've done a hell of a job keeping it in the dark- I'm betting on a lot of unimpressive launch exclusives the same that Sony had this gen (ala HAZE, Heavenly Sword, etc, those games nobody cared about) or minor XBLA titles. They seem to be wanting to hold off on games until E3 which presents a chance for them to turn around, at least a little, if they have an impressive array of exclusive launch titles. As it is I don't know how they'll fare. They're presenting an entertainment box which does nothing new and plays some games that I so far have little reason to be interested in. This is why everyone seems to favor PS4, at least for now. Today was Microsoft's big chance to 'wow' people and they failed to live up to any expected hypes or hopes. I'm not saying "GG no re, you're dead this entire gen," but it is a bad pre-launch start.

E: Also not that I'm one to care much for aesthetics in general but holy ♥♥♥♥ the console itself looks like an expensive VCR from the '80s, what the ♥♥♥♥ is up with that

I'm never impressed by launch titles anyway. As for used games that sucks and I wasn't aware. With the Blu-ray it's not like they had much choice anyway if they wanted to keep selling discs but it's exactly an amazing selling point. New Halo trilogy was confirmed ages ago.

Oh well still no new console for me, expensive media centre maybe though...

♥♥♥♥, it actually sorta does. On that note, Kinect is REQUIRED. Even better than that, it has a ♥♥♥♥ HAL eye.
Just waiting for someone to mod it to say "I can't let you do that Dave." when you try to run a used game.

Oh, and used games. Now at least Gamestop can't repackage a used game as new and slap a full price sticker on it.

I think it's overall a step backwards from the 360 controller, aside from better dpad and the top part looks nice. Discuss.

I honestly think the whole no backwards compatibility will cause lower sales, that, and it's probably prone to go to ♥♥♥♥ once your warranty expires...
For example, the week my warranty for my old xbox expired, the disc drive got all screwed up and it scratched the hell out of the game I had in there.
But hopefully this will be more durable than the previous consoles.

The controller seems even more excessively large, the analog sticks look nice.

But seriously, I thought consoles were for gaming, not having a PC with a TV without any art or office stuff on it.
