So I just started playing MGS2. Is it just me or is this game kind of ass?

Yes. It's ass. MG3 is so much better.

May I present an essay on why it's wrong to say MGS2 is "ass"
Spoilers are in the spoiler tag, not using them to be "witty" here.

MGS2 is better than MGS3 in writing, design, and plot. Things won't make sense in the game until later, but you have to actually pay attention to notice what goes on, unlike MGS3, which holds your hand the whole way through in terms of plot sequence. People who give MGS2 ♥♥♥♥ either just whined about Raiden, didn't take the whole story in, or just pretended to play it. This isn't to say MGS3 wasn't a truly great game, but aesthetically MGS2 was far superior. MGS3 is filled with an excess of James Bond-esque cliches, tried formulas, and 'Red Badge of Courage' bravado. The tried formulas are apparent in both, but for different reasons. I couldn't help myself but spoil everything, so if you want to miss out on unraveling the mystery for yourself, keep reading. If you don't want to take my word for it and need to know why, read on.

So yeah shut up Myka

EDIT:

Man ♥♥♥♥ Saturday Night Live, make me watch your horrible sketches just so I can see Kanyes new singles. Nobody cares about no Ben Aflec, just came to watch them drop Yeezy.

Post Re: The Lounge
While I have problems with some of the writing, for example having such a long cut scene at the start of the game before allowing the player to do things (unlike MGS1), my main problem is gameplay.

-Camera is ass. It settles itself in weird position and doesn't let you see what you need to see. Often you have to turn corners blind.

-Shooting is ass. Do you need to draw a circle on your TV to mark the center? I mean I suppose I'll learn it eventually, and indeed have already started to, but it's still dumb design

-Map design is my biggest problem with it right now. Everything so far is just really tight, linear corridors that don't really allow the player much adventuring or even enough room to engage obstacles in multiple ways. Everything seems to force me into a head on collision with guards, often without me being able to see them thanks to the camera.

I don't think I'll mind playing as Raiden.

I see crosshairs as a crutch, but I understand why you don't like the map design. Camera angles are wonky, but great compared to MGS1. MGS3 is about the same with the first person cameras so be ready for that.

If you have MGS3 Subsistence there's two camera modes, the classic forced perspectives and a freely moveable third-person camera the way MGS4 has it, which I find marvelous.

And staff-made joke cutscenes and skits, most of them are gold.

It probably has something to do with your Windows' handling of keyboard input going borked, since both physical and virtual keyboards aren't working.
I'd say Google something like "windows no keyboard input", but that'd require a keyboard.
