Bumping this because it's still my main creative outlet at the moment, and our small community (about as small as this one) is still growing. I definitely recommend a look if you or anyone you know is still into/interested in LEGO.

This project did get funded, quite successfully, and the rulebooks and kits for the Kickstarters are already coming out. My flickr page is still very active and you can see a lot of neat LEGO mech designs in the Mobile Frame Zero: Rapid Attack group on Flickr.

The majority of the activity is on the Mobile Frame Hangar forums, however. We discuss everything from the rules to creations ranging from mechs to vehicles to terrain.

How do you get good at LEGOs
Is LEGOs really a talent you have to train
Where do you get all these good pieces

Practice. Like anything else.
Yes. My early stuff is abominable. There's actually a thread on the Mobile Frame Hangar featuring a "Back then vs. Now" look at a lot of our work. Some of mine are there.
Most builders order parts individually on a community marketplace called Bricklink. I also hunt local retail clearance.

Be warned. Bricklink is very clunky to navigate. A light novel could be written explaining how to actually purchase pieces from it. Once you get used to it, though, buying pieces becomes easy.

You have invoked my curiosity. I'm going to drag down the large pallets of LEGO creations I have amassed over the years to scavenge for usable pieces. Hopefully I can get a friend to do the same.

Yeah this seems pretty cool. I think I actually bought a set years ago that was meant for building little robots with similar architecture to a lot of these. A little green guy, can't remember what it's called.

Maybe I'll have to pull out my legos this weekend.

*Yes, I know it's Lego not legos.

Some people have split-range weapons, how does that fit with the Non-Ranged Speed Bonus?

Even your old ones look good. ;n;
I have a ton of Lego, but it's all jumbled up into a big mess and a fairly large portion of it is building blocks (2x4x1s, yano, not good for little mechas), Technic, or Bionicles. I could probably scavenge them for some good robo-pieces but that may take a while and not be very fruitful.
Is there anywhere I can find an image or small tutorial on a basic chassis? Like, some small construction good for basing simple Frames on.

@Foa: Even if the weapon is split range, having a ranged weapon system of any kind still active on the frame prevents it from gaining the additional D8 Green roll. If later in battle, however, a frame ends up in the state of having no ranged weapons, they gain the bonus D8.

@Miggles: Even basic bricks are useful for terrain or more simple frames. In terms of finding instructions, therems a thread on the Mobile Frame Hangar called "Do you need an LDR file produced?" that contains PDF tutorials of a small selection of basic frames as well as some user submitted ones.

Thank you for being indignant about it.

I much like the more poseable figures, myself.

grep, oh so unix ;o
Or Game Groomp.

But yeah, I'd be interested

EDIT [Also, what LDD's are out there, I'm staring at the LDD on the lego site and wondering if there are any 'better' items]

Most people use LDD or LDraw, some used MClad.

Honestly I prefer to sit down and design with my actual bricks. I only used LDD before I had enough of the relevant parts. My beef with LDD is that it doesn't allow you to do a lot of connections that you can do IRL.

I was thinking about using the MFZ dice system for an rtd, but honestly, it would mean that players would get teir loot/libs ripped apart constantly.
