It's stupid because the entire social media integration concept on a gaming console is stupid,
So your rationale is, "A is dumb because it is related to B and B is dumb." And why is B dumb? It's your opinion that B is dumb.
TorrentHKU wrote:
Or you like to ignore what people say so you can call them dumb.
Good job pointing out your rational arguments then, I've obviously missed all of them.

Never said it was useless. A dedicated "record" or "snapshot" button, while I think IS superfluous, is a decent idea. A "Share" button, tied to social media bull♥♥♥♥, well, see above.
>a dedicated "record" or "snapshot" button
...this is exactly what Share is. It's not somehow directly tied to Facebook or Twitter or some bull♥♥♥♥ along those lines. This is your own false assumption.

Considering they literally got rid of a button in favor of it, by the strictest definition of "hamper", it DOES hamper it.
Considering they combined a never-used button with the pause button, it retains all previous functions while adding new ones. Ie, by every definition, it is not hampered. Just the opposite. It is improved. "Share" will get used way more than "Select" ever did.

Internet fights are always about opinion, please keep up. / Oh you are right, I will defer to YOUR doctorate in Controller Design-ology now.
Opinions should be founded on facts, you can't fart out an opinion from nowhere and expect it to be understandable. Your opinion on this seems to be, "it's dumb because I say so." No, I don't have a doctorate in controller design- I have some very simple facts on the subject and nothing more. I'm just following said facts.

Please tell me why your opinion on this matter is so much more correct than mine, and why mine is invalidated.
See what I've said above.

I don't need to have studied something for ♥♥♥♥ years to have an opinion on it, especially when it isn't something that doesn't take years of study to do.
Oh, by no means. It just takes a Google search and 5 minutes of reading an article on what the controller, or specifically, the Share button, actually does.

I've used Dualshock 1, Dualshock 2 a lot, and from what I've seen there are no major changes between it and 3. So, yeah.
Yet earlier you talked about how bad wireless controllers are and why that means that the DS4's wireless will be bad; yet, having no experience with 3, you didn't know that Sony had wireless down pat already. Otherwise you would never have brought that up, no? So through your own experience, you've proved that statement wrong.

It is a "Share" button. When you press it, and probably depending on how you press it, it activates either features designed to facilitate sharing of personal game achievements, or directly shares them. IE, it takes screenshots, records video,
Hold that thought.
TorrentHKU wrote:

So is your only problem with "Share" your assumption that it's directly connected to Facebook or something? Rest assured, as I said previously, it's not. It's a clientside function. You can take screenshots and record video and never share them with anybody but your own hard drive, for future memories. I even brought this up earlier- it's not like once you press Share, bam, Facebook pops up and you get to tag all your gamerbuddies and ♥♥♥♥. How could that possibly be feasible for any realtime multiplayer game?
TorrentHKU wrote:
The fact that I'm standing behind my perfectly valid opinion that the Share button is a waste of a button and appeases a growing trend of stupidity is ludicrous?
Ah, but no, your opinion's based on things that simply aren't true- ie, it's not a useless button. You even said so yourself. See?
TorrentHKU wrote:

Because, again, that's what the Share button is. Regardless, even if it did "appease a growing trend" of social media integration, you have yet to explain why you find that stupid- the same fallacy as your first point.
TorrentHKU wrote:
I do my best to keep things professional until someone starts insulting me first.
Professional? You could've looked all of this up in 5 minutes, tops. For some reason, you saw "Share" and this triggered some sort of rage-aneurysm and had you going off about Facebook. Maybe you just have some kind of psychological reaction to five-letter words that start with S, it would explain why Sothe is able to anger you so easily.

Stop being an ass and calling it argument, and stop saying that what I think doesn't matter. Two independent requests.
I said what you thought didn't matter? If that was my opinion... why would I ever have responded to your posts at all? I would have ignored them, no? As for calling this an argument, it's not an argument. You misunderstood something and I am trying to correct your understanding about it.
So HKU, will you now kindly explain why anything remotely related to social media is a horrible, horrible thing, regardless of whether it is optional and simply available for those who'd like it? That seems to be what you're asserting.
EDIT: By the way, if you wanted some facts to back up what I was saying, in response to being asked whether one cwould have to be always online and/or sharing ♥♥♥♥ on PS4: "Oh yes, yes, you can go offline totally. Social is big for us, but we understand there are some people who are anti-social! So if you don't want to connect to anyone else, you can do that." -Shuhei Yoshida
In other words,
entirely optional.

The share button is kind of dumb, but I hate the touchpad way more, because it will inevitably be used for some gimmicky functions that would work better assigned to a button.
I really doubt it. Most speculate that it'll be used for both console and game UI navigation as well as web browser navigation.

SS13 seems like it'd take a bit of effort to get into. How long did it take you guys to start enjoying it? Love at first sight, or grown to appreciate the complexity over time?
