Re: Kerbal Space Program
I played this during the summer. Haven't played since. I'm pretty sure you Jebediahs have made some pretty sweet spacecrafts. I might play it again.

Re: Kerbal Space Program
I'd always wondered what would happen if you intercepted Kersol... I'm actually kinda disappointed that I only got to 250k/s, I was hoping for something more FTL-ish. Although that was still higher than the escape velocity of the solar system. Oh, and I don't know why but my ship's fuel tank and engine randomly exploded, leaving everything else intact, hence the debris field.

Has anyone orbited the moon(mun) yet?

Re: Kerbal Space Program
Nah, any time I've tried to, I always end up getting slung back into orbit with Kerbin.

Re: Kerbal Space Program
I have, several times, but I usually get grabbed by Kerbin again, then grabbed by the Mun and slung around to Kerbin and smash into it.

Re: Kerbal Space Program
So. Version 0.13 is released * A new Fuel Line part, that allows fuel to be drained off external (side-mounted) tanks. * Shuttle-style (Fuel tanks can now also beside-mounted). * Faster loading And many more. Also Quote: As we’ve already announced earlier, this update marks the end of the free demo period. That is, we will continue to update KSP, but future updates will only be available for those who have ordered the game at our Store (and those who have already pre-ordered, of course).
The 0.13 version will remain available for free at the download page, as a demo version. Pretty harsh, but I bought it. For 7$ as pre-order. Worth it I say

Re: Kerbal Space Program
Rocket no Stahp I learned from that rocket that KSP doesn't seem to like top-heavy rockets, even if the thrusters are also up there. Yet more tries on getting that gate up into orbit This one actually got the pieces up Four and a half hours of playing with RCS thrusters later (actual timelapse)

Re: Kerbal Space Program
Looks like you can run KSP at high graphics settings. I can't. I envy you.

Oh man, so I tried the demo right? Spaceships are hard. I got a Kerbal to the arctic though.

Re: Kerbal Space Program
So. I got a craft into orbit of the Mun, then realized it had no SAS. I decided to land anyway. On top of that, I miscalculated fuel consumption of the lander's engines.
So I ran out of fuel while still going pretty fast. Smashed into the munar surface.
And survived.
Which won the space race for communism! I was competing with my brother to put the first man on the moon, BARIS style. So first it was first thing into space (me), first satellite into space (Me again, with the Mushkin 1 satellite), first man in space (Me, but unfortunately, they are stuck in orbit with no return fuel. ), first man in orbit (See previous), first space plane (I had the first built, but it wasn't very functional. My brother won this one), along with first space plane to reach space ( My brother again ), first satellite in orbit of the Mun ( My brother got this one, too). We both tried to put a station up, but couldn't quite do it.
Then I rushed for the Mun. I'll post a screenshot soon. Also, got MechJeb now, since we both agreed that we could use mods after reaching the Mun. Gonna do a rescue mission for the lander's crew, too.

Re: Kerbal Space Program
Who's got two thumbs and just got his first ship into orbit? This guuuuuyyyyIt's a terrible orbit, but an orbit nonetheless. Also, I don't understand maneuvering during an orbit. I might have to work on that. EDIT: I added another stage with a tiny rocket so I could actually maneuver. Victory is mine.

Re: Kerbal Space Program
So, i've recently bought this game, (this morning infact)and it is indeedly, very entertaining.
I've hatched an idea of a sort to try and Mimic a creation of Mechwarrior mech (a Raven to be exact) as land transport, but we shall see how that fares when i get around to it.
So far all i've done is test parachuting, which had a drastic first failure, as well as tested how to get near to Orbit, as well as a few minor things.
So Far my first goal is to get into space for awhile.

Re: Kerbal Space Program
So I put a probe on the surface of Gilly. It's harder than you think. The gravity is so damn low it is very, very hard to end up in orbit of the thing, and a powered landing can put you on an escape trajectory. Here is Muskin IV, the probe that made it to Gilly. It is part of a noble lineage of space satellites. Muskin I was the first thing I've ever put in orbit and they've been getting better and better ever since. Also, on the status of recovering my noble cosmonauts who have been stranded on the Mun. I've designed and sent an automated lander craft to the surface of the Mun, called the LRV. It should provide a good place to keep the cosmonauts safe till a rescue can be sent. Only one of my cosmonauts have been able to reach the craft so far, since it is several kilometers away from the original crash site. Also, my texture quality is terrible :s
