Re: Art Dump
Finished bow I think it pulls around 50lbs@28-30", pretty smooth and actually seems to be lighter at full draw, sorta like a compound bow.

Re: Art Dump
Thanks, and yes, the real test will be the first few days of shooting, if no weak spots form, then I think it will last a good long time.

I hope you use the fat arrows without points for testing. Real Arrows go further than normal :L

Okie dokie here he is, from 2010 to 2013. Keeping in mind to vary my line thickness as per the previous advice, I have attempted to do so for some smaller details. not so sure it they're varied enough though.

Re: Art Dump
I think the main thing might be to thicken the outline and thin the lines within. Also, if you're going for realism, the head might be a little big. Other than that, that's real nice! The perspective/foreshortening is nice, and I can really appreciate the hands, I still have huge difficulty trying to get them to make sense when drawing them without references.

Re: Art Dump
I dunno, I kinda like the thick lines. It makes it look styled. Also, that soldier got younger.

Re: Art Dump
It looks really nice, but the face doesn't look as good as it does in the image on the left. There's just something about that face that makes me not want to ♥♥♥♥ with him.

Re: Art Dump
Guy on the left looks like a "you don't ♥♥♥♥ with me" grizzled veteran. Guy on the right looks kinda younger, and doesn't have the "I've been through many things" look. I still like him though.

They both look like their arms are too short or their legs are too long.

Re: Art Dump
Thanks for the feedback guys. Certainly I worry sometimes about the scale of things like the head, body, and limbs all in relation to each other, something which will probably even itself out over time. I totally agree that the legs and arms are kind of weird here. And yeah in regards to the face, a side effect of the simplistic direction I've gone in; however now that this has been highlighted, I'll take a look into putting some wear into that face. edit: New face

Re: Art Dump
@Bombzero: Correct anatomy and proportion has nothing to do with style, even cartoonists who draw completely anthropomorphic characters like Spongebob have some understanding of proportion. Style takes a back seat when it comes to fundamentals. @Matty: facial features are looking pretty solid for how simple they are, your older drawing has a really thin gaunt face, I had the same thing going on with my earlier drawings, when I would draw a face I would only draw really thin old looking faces. I think it's a common thing for beginners to over-emphasize the wrinkles and prominent features of faces, making them look like old people. Now I think he looks pretty young, not because of his face, but because the rest of his body looks small in proportion to his head. Something also hits me as odd with the legs, they seem to be too big, and the groin of his pants seem too high up. It seems to me that with all the combat gear his torso would surely look a bit thicker and heavier than his legs. EDIT: Took a break from bows and did a quick dwarf, Yolarc the Discoverer
