Re: Art Dump
Are these from a thing? Please tell me these are from a thing, because musket-toting dwarves in post-renaissance garb are among my favorite things.

Re: Art Dump
They are of my own design, although inspired by the game Arcanum, where the dwarves exist in a Victorian steampunk world, rather than a high-fantasy medieval setting. The concept probably isn't anything new though. Finished longbow Strung Unstrung All in all it's not too bad aside from the one weaker limb and some spots where the stain came off. Despite the fact that this thing is a real beast to draw the velocity doesn't seem to be much greater than my previous shortbow.

Re: Art Dump
How far does your bow shoot? Because a friend of mines shoots around 100 m

Re: Art Dump
I think about 80 meters with lightweight arrows, a real longbow of the same pull weight could shoot about twice that distance

That in combination with your avatar multiplied the humourous effect, madmax.

Re: Art Dump
That's pretty neat looking, you're rather good at this half-pixel-art stuff. On another note, my old computer broke so I had to set up the new one for art, since this computer sucks I'm basically restricted to MyPaint for heavy work and GIMP for minor edits. That being said, here's some little terrible doodlings I did while checking pressure sensitivity, getting MyPaint set up, and getting used to the smaller screen size for my tablet. They're both based off of a tabletop RPG called Shadowrun(playing via IRC and a program called Chummer with some friends), the first is a quick sketch of my character, (2.45m tall, 340kg troll that wears riot armor and wields a claymore as his main weapon) second one is of a generic Lone Star (security company in the game's lore) SWAT officer with a shittily drawn pistol and poorly positioned shield/arm. No I'm serious these are terrible. Just letting you guys know that I'm still drawing stuff no matter how much mental anguish that fact inflicts. =p

Re: Art Dump
Yet another bow. This one was a bit more complex to make, it's design is based off of Hun composite bows (My cat Monster studying it carefully). As you can see the ends are not PVC, they are oakwood pieces I carved and joined to the pipe. Its still far from finished but this is the rough final shape. Definitely the most difficult one I've made yet, I spent 2 days on the tillering alone, trying to get the limbs to bend equally (which they don't).
