Re: Roll To Dodge: Ethersphere (Roll 70)
Sorry guys, three day weekends mean parties. Which means I don't have time to check this. Yes, I was wondering if I could speak to one of your superiors about potentially joining the ISC? My scaly friend here also some interest. Be incredibly charming. Idly conjure up a ball of water and play with it to show off.

"Yes, I was wondering if I could speak to one of your superiors about potentially joining the ISC? My scaly friend here also has some interest." As he finishes speaking, Jet puts on his best casual smile and raises his right hand, palm-up, to conjure up a swirling ball of water. The receptionist raises an eyebrow. "I see. Well, sad to say I'm the only one here, sir. To be entirely honest, we haven't gotten many actual interested recruits in here- the ISC is cutting down on their forces since there's no real use in keeping such a large standing military. I mainly just do paperwork. But... I'm assuming you can use more Ether than just making that little ball? That's something HQ will be interested in. The same goes for your uh, scaly friend. Can you use Ether?" Klish nods in response. "Hm. Let me get in contact with someone who can give you a definite answer," he says as pulls out a UNADA and opens a line of communication open. "General Black, sir, I have two Ether-users who are interested in joining the ISC... Yes, sir... The Euridia outpost?... Yes, sir. Goodbye, sir." He hangs up and looks at the two men. "Well, we don't really have anyone here who can properly evaluate your abilities, but there's an Ether-training facility nearby on Euridia. Might still be a few warp-flights leaving at the port, this time of day, although it's only about a three or four hour trip on most non-warp craft. Let me just get your names so they know to expect you." After giving their names and information, the two head outside. "Back to the port, I guess," Jet says, starting off towards it with Klish in tow. ============================================= Appearance: 6'1", short-cut dark blue hair, brown eyes, medium build. ===Equipment=== Primary Weapon: K12 "Ripper" Carbine [30|140] // Underslung Shotgun [1|10] ---A state of the art carbine rifle, designed to fire normal, armor-piercing, or hollowpoint rounds as the situation demands. TorrentHKU | John S. Freeman (Roll: 7)
"I'll take that Dragonscale armor. I wanna stay maneuverable if possible. That said, I'd be very much interested in some other armor as well." "No problem, we'll just get your measurements and fit you out." John is quickly measured and given a medium-sized suit of Dragonscale. "Try that on." The weight of the armor is noticeable, but nowhere close to cumbersome, and John finds he can still move his arms and legs as freely as he could without armor. "Nice. I'll take it. How about some supplementary armor?" The clerk moves off and comes back a minute later, her arms laden with gear. "Well, you seem like you're trying to stay light, so I'm going for balanced gear here. This helmet's a standard military ballistic helmet, fairly resistant to bullets and shrapnel. It won't give you any face protection, but it'll cover the back and side of your head almost fully. Next up, this pair of protective reinforced-Kevlar gauntlets, which will cover your forearm and leave your arms pretty much fully protected, since the Dragonscale reaches down to your elbows. They come with a complementary pair of these protective gloves- they won't stop a bullet by a long shot, but they should keep your hands free from scratches and blisters. This pair of combat boots are light enough that you'll be able to easily run in them, and they'll keep your feet attached to your body, too. I'll throw in this pair of plasteel kneepads, too, to cover the area between the boots and the Dragonscale. This bundle will come to a total of about 300 UC." ============================================= Appearance: Goatee. ===Equipment=== Primary Weapon:Vortex Driver ---A high-powered etherweapon that can concentrate air into highly pressured beams or use it to suction objects. Features a variable zoom scope with optional thermal imaging. Lightweight and easy to control. Secondary Weapon: Utataku Experimental Personal Defense Weapon (UXPDW) [50|150] ---Experimental PDW. Lightweight, with a fully symmetrical design, and a high-capacity magazine, this PDW is similar to the FN P90 in design, but with a lower recoil and more dependable operation. Tertiary Weapon: Fluted Knife (Accelerates using ---6 inch combat knife designed so that air can be pushed into it, causing it to vent out the back and speed up.) Armor: Dragonscale Armor (+2 to defense on: Chest, Torso, Upper Arms, Upper Legs) ---Lightweight combat armor made of interwoven titanium alloy scales. ===Inventory=== -15,800 Universal Credits -UNADA PDA -Ether Shard ---Used to contact the Agent -Pack of Gum (4 pieces) -Multitool -Medkit (Bandages, morphine syringes, gauze pads, anti-septic cleanser, tweezers, scalpel) ===Ether=== Passive Abilities -Wind at my Back (+1 to Air Techniques) -Wind in my Veins (Able to shape and control generated Air at will) -Gum Nom Nom (Chewing gum calms John down and reduces pain for five turns) Techniques -Kamaitachi ---Air, Single: Launches a scything blade of air at a target. -Daikamaitachi ---Air, Directional: A wider and stronger version capable of slicing through reinforced metal with ease. -Rasenshuriken ---Air, Area: Launches a condensed ball of rapidly rotating wind that explodes on contact, creating a sphere of effect where anything inside is slashed to pieces by razor winds. Amazigh | Aicaya (Roll: 5)
Aicaya takes a look at some of the high-end helmets available for purchase. The first high-protection option she sees is a padded plasteel full-sphere helmet with a reinforced glass face-visor, shielded by an overhang. "Hm. Might cut down on my peripheral vision, and it definitely wouldn't be fun if a stray bullet busted that glass." The helmet's listed at 100 UCs. Similar helmets are clustered around it. The most expensive-looking helmet she can find, after a few minutes of browsing, is a hefty titanium-alloy battle helmet about the same size as the first plasteel helmet, but this one seems significantly stronger, and it even offers a projectable HUD. Instead of having a wide glass faceplate, this helmet has two eye-holes, linked to external sensors to actually enhance the user's natural field of view. "Ooh. That's nice." She looks down at the price tag- 1000 credits. "Aaand pricey. Really nice, though." Aicaya puts it on to try it out and flips on the power. "Oh, damn, I can see just as good with this thing on as I can with no helmet. Actually, maybe a little wider. Okay, definitely nice." ============================================= Appearance: Shoulder-length black hair, green eyes, muscular build. ===Equipment=== Primary Weapon: PUSHKA Artillery Cannon [1 AB|9 HE/8 FG/3 AP/11 AB] ---High power long range cannon. Secondary Weapon:Meteor Shower ---A minigun-like etherweapon that rapidly fires projectiles generated by the user's ether. Tertiary Weapon: CERBERUS Pile Bunker [2|15] ---Mounted on the back of the left forearm. Armor: HIBISCUS Heavy Powered Combat Armor (+3 to all defense but head; +1 to strength; -1 to agility) ---Powered armor that is highly durable and offers a great deal of all-around protection. Also increases user strength. Somewhat cumbersome. ===Inventory=== -7,000 Universal Credits -UNADA PDA -9 High Explosive shells -8 Fragmentation shells -4 Armor Piercing shells -12 “Hellfire” Airburst shells -Ether Shard ---Used to contact the Agent ===Ether=== Passive Abilities -Target Prediction (+1 to shooting at long range targets) -Grounded (+1 to defense if stationary) -Durable (Can carry an increased load) Techniques -Terra Spike ---Earth, Single: Launches a rock spike at the target. -Terra Shatter ---Earth, Directional: Launches a rock spike that then fragments into hundreds of small, razor-sharp rocks, which spread like buckshot. Effective over a wide area. Conditions
DSMK2 | DEYE-5 (Roll: 8)
D double-checks his appointment time and realizes that it is in an hour. Better start heading there. Exiting the bar, D finds his way down the space port, into the lobby, and outside. As he walks, he looks around and observes the architecture and industrial layout of Kyoto. Most of the buildings seem to fall into one of two categories: either practically built with few frills, or showing off the wealth of whatever business or organization is located within them, embezzled with shining steel adornments, projecting high-definition holograms into the sky, or throwing back morphed reflections of their surroundings with massive curved windows on all sides. Soon, D finds himself outside of the bio-mechanical augmentation facility- a hulking four-story granite block with thick, indented, side-by-side windows on each story completely wrapping around the building. With the main building, parking lots, and an air vehicle landing pad visible in the background, the facility takes up nearly an entire city block. D starts down the entrance pathway, a smooth marbled sidewalk lined with planters filled with exotic flowers, with an overhead wall-less roof to shield pedestrians from harsh weather conditions. He can see two identical fountains about a hundred feet away from each other, three-tiered and cascading water in a beautiful pattern, connected by a single shallow channel, about ten feet wide, filled with sparkling aquamarine water casting the sun's rays in every direction. A short bridge goes over the channel and the path ends ten feet from a set of wide entrance doors, made of a shining aluminum frame and handles with the rest being smoked glass. Pulling open one of the doors, D walks inside to find the inside as aesthetically quaint as the outside; the floor is a shadowy marble without any carpets or covers on top of it, leading up to a semi-circle of a receptionist's desk straight ahead of the door, flanked by two sets of double-doors leading to the rest of the facility. Two pairs of elevators are located on either side of the room. "Hi there, can I help you sir?" asks a voice. D focuses on a middle-aged receptionist who is staring at him with an almost servant-like air, ready to assist in any way she can. "Yes, I have an appointment under the name DEYE-5." D replies. "One moment while I look that up, sir." A few seconds of typing at her keyboard later, the receptionist looks back at D and says, "Okay, you're all set and ready to go, Mr. DEYE-5. Please move through the door on your right and go to the second room on your left, where you'll receive a standard inspection from one of our bio-technicians. Good luck!" "Thank you," D says as he walks through the door and follows her directions to a small room not unlike a dentist's office in size. A single human man is inside, busily pulling up information on a holographic screen in a corner of the room. "Ah, hello there, sir. Please take a seat and I'll be with you immediately." D sits down in a chair in the center of the room, and no sooner does he do so than the man moves over. "Good to meet you, Mr. D-EYE5, I'm Dr. Porter. Now, I can't say I recognize this particular frame- it's not a standard military model, is it?" "No." "I figured. Okay, well, that's not an issue, we'll just need to put you through a quick diagnostic scan- very fast and easy. Follow me, please." D follows Dr. Porter out the room, down the hall, and into a larger room with two technicians inside. "Hey, we need a standard diagnostic scan," the doctor says. "Sure, we've got nobody waiting," one of the techs says as he brings up an authorization screen and activates something. A sort of coffin-like pod emerges out of the wall and opens up, revealing a space large enough for almost any humanoid cyborg or robot to fit in. "In you go! It'll just take a few data samples and markers, register you in our customer database, things like that. And check for compatibility with your desired upgrade, of course," Dr. Porter explains. D steps into the scan-pod, which closes with a sliding sheet of glass. Beginning diagnostic scan, an automated voice says as the pod begins to hum. There are dull flashes of light as D's frame is scanned on all sides for a few seconds. Attempting wireless connection, the voice says next, and D detects the machine requesting permission to connect with his systems. Mentally giving the permission, he feels his regulated data- weapon information, part durability, hydraulics scanners, things of that sort- being conveyed to the scanner. About ten seconds later, the voice says, Diagnostic scan complete, and D feels the connection sever as the glass of the pod opens up. "Am I now ready for my scheduled augmentation?" D asks as Dr. Porter reviews the diagnostic. "Yes, it looks like everything checks out," the doctor replies as he peers closely at the projected results. "Uh, one thing, sir- we'll of course require that you leave any firearms in our controlled armory before the augmentation procedure commences. I see that your autocannon is integrated into your frame, so we'd like you to unload any ammunition you have in there. Follow me to the security storage area, please," he says as he moves out of the room. D follows him, this time to the elevator, and they exit on the second floor. A short walk down a curving corridor brings them in front of a rather ordinary-looking desk with a single security officer manning it. Behind him, a reinforced titanium door bulges out of the wall- obviously the storage area. "Good evening, officer, this patient just needs a few munitions stored for the duration of his augmentation procedure." "One sec, I'll open it up for ya, doc," the officer replies as he enters a few passwords and the door swings in. D follows the doctor inside as two security officers approach them with several large, empty crates in tow. The inside of the armory is huge, with a tiled floor, on top of which are rows upon rows of large metal cabinets. D places his Arc Blaster, UXPDW, and Bladed Shield into the crates, then unfolds and unloads his ZIGER autocannon, depositing the bullets into another crate. "Well, I believe we're now ready. To the implantation wing, now," Dr. Porter says as he exits the armory and reenters the elevator, this time taking it to the third floor. D soon finds himself inside an operating room with three bio-technicians preparing to begin the implant. A fourth soon brings in the pair of eyes that D's about to pay 5,000 credits for. Immediately before beginning, they recheck and reconfirm everything that they need to, and then D is powered down for the duration of the implantation procedure... (Some events like this that involve the player-character not doing much will trigger non-action periods to avoid single-player timeskips or anything of that nature, which would frankly be silly. NO ACTION FOR: TWO ROLLS) ============================================= Appearance: 6' dull grey humanoid skeletal cyborg with a red mono-eye. ===Equipment=== Primary Weapon: Arc Blaster ---A wide shotgun-like etherweapon which discharges massive amounts of electricity towards anything in front of it. Contains an Ether Management Module, which optimizes ether use and prevents overexertion. Primary Weapon: Custom ZIGER Rotary Autocannon [110|0] (FOLDED) ---A modifiable-ammo cannon mounted on D's shoulder. Can be retracted into armor. Secondary Weapon: Utataku Experimental Personal Defense Weapon (UXPDW) (Right/Left) [50/35|300] ---Experimental PDWs. Lightweight, with a fully symmetrical design, and a high-capacity magazine, these PDWs are similar to the FN P90 in design, but with a lower recoil and more dependable operation. Tertiary Weapon: Bladed Shield (Right) ---An oblong plate made of refined titanium; one side has a very sharp, curved blade. Armor: D-Series Armor Shell (+2 to all defense) ---Heavy armor designed around the D-Series cyborg bodies, made from strong plasteel, they provide strong frontal protection compared to the armor's other parts. Doesn't restrict movement. Has five convenient compartments for storing things. Has Twin Lens-Based Lasers on the palms as a close to medium range weapon and Nano Blade Claw Fingers as a last resort close-quarters weapon. ===Inventory=== -6,000 Universal Credits -UNADA PDA -Monkey Wrench ---A heavy monkey wrench was one of the first things D-EYE5 found, he's fascinated by its use as a bludgeoning tool and adjustable size. -Cherry Bombs [20] ---Harmless explosives made for children to play with. Not for human consumption. -Rotten Sandwich ---Unlucky custodian's uneaten lunch, salami, Swiss cheese, with everything, used to be delicious. A little squishy. -Ether Shard ---Used to contact the Agent -Raw Metal Chunks ---Sliced up bits of Utataku Robot Armor. Can be used to manufacture ZIGER ammo. -Informational Pamphlet ---Contains information on the Arc Blaster. ===Ether=== Passive Abilities -Innate Targeting (+1 to ranged attacks) -Plasteel Chassis (+1 to Defense) -Nanobot Blood (Auto-repairs damage over time; takes longer to repair more extensive damage) Techniques -Psycho Mode ---Lightning, Self: Overcharge self for increased reaction speed at the significant cost of accuracy of all attacks. Conditions Deactivated (Two turn duration)
alphagamer774 | Michael "Mike" Rocksford (Roll: 1)
Mike leaves the bar and decides to poke around for a maintenance area or scrapyard. He sees a door in the hallway marked as Supplies, but fails to read the EMPLOYEES ONLY sign underneath it. He opens the door and is greeted by a maintenance worker sitting in a chair, staring at a magazine, who mumbles, "Hey, Joe," without looking up. After Mike doesn't move, the worker does look up and says, "Hey, you ain't Joe! Can't you read? Workers only!" "Oh, uh, sorry. Didn't see that." Mike backs out of the room, leaving the man to grumble under his breath, and closes the door. On second thought, maybe I should check for a scrapyard in the city. ============================================= Appearance: 5'9" ===Equipment=== Primary Weapon:Pulsar ---A marksman electrolaser etherweapon operating on the principle of using a laser to ionize air molecules and create a plasma channel to transfer a massive jolt of electricity. It can fire roughly two bolts per second if necessary at a close range, but it shines at mid-range combat. Contains an Ether Management Module, which optimizes ether use and prevents overexertion. Secondary Weapon: I-2 Custom [20|10] ---An older variant of the current standard issue ISC sidearm, it fires the same low velocity ammunition of the new handguns. Fitted with a lighter polymer slide and a shaved down grip, it sacrifices balance and accuracy to make it one of the lightest weapons produced. Secondary Weapon: Utataku Experimental Recoilless Automatic Pistol (UXRAP) [20|50] ---A .45 caliber pistol using an experimental design, coupling a shock-absorbing frame, enlarged muzzle brake, ported barrel, and heavy grip to dramatically reduce recoil, leading to high accuracy even when using fully automatic fire. A high-capacity magazine and full-auto fire make this gun absolutely devastating at close to mid range. Tertiary Weapon: Combat Knife ---A standard stainless steel combat knife with an 8-inch serrated blade. Clothing: Durable Black Desperado Hat (+1 to social interaction; +1 head defense) ===Inventory=== -5,845 Universal Credits -UNADA PDA -Backpack (Closed with zippers 'n ♥♥♥♥, so fairly inaccessible. Quite durable, and fireproof) --Jackson [3|39] ---A heavily modified semi-automatic rifle, derivative of the twentieth century M14. It has a significantly shorter barrel, a forward mounted grip, heavy metal plating, and several gruesome looking blades, enhancing its durability for and usefulness in close quarters combat. It's been re-chambered for the heavier rounds usually found in precision rifles. --Toolbox (Various low-tech tools, wrenches, screwdrivers, wire-cutters etc) --Flashlight (With spare batteries) --5 Rations --Lighter --Ether Shard ---Used to contact the Agent ===Ether=== Passive Abilities -Improvise (+1 to creating and using improvised weapons in combat) Techniques -Surge ---Lightning, Self: Improves muscle reaction and strength in the legs to vastly increase running speed and stamina. Conditions
TheKebbit | Jotun (Roll: 9)
Jotun funnels power towards restoring the station's basic standard operating parameters. The old core pumps out enough energy to bring the station back to life: the lights all come on, camera feeds are activated, automatic doors begin to slide open, and the ventilation system kicks in. Jotun hears the distant clunk of automatic refining processes, too. There's even some power to spare after the revival of the station. Jotun next checks on the progress of the hexapod drones. The drones outside of the station show that there is no significant, or at least visible, damage to the station's exterior. The drones within the station have yet to finish exploring the top floor, but have marked areas with usable scrap and other materials. Jotun's relatively surprised at what he sees: with the lights on, the station doesn't appear nearly as derelict before, though it would be abundantly clear to any visitor that the place is abandoned. ============================================= Appearance: Droid with an AMEC Corporate Security Frame [Designation 3-5-Maintenance] Has a strangely unique "face" via a digital communications screen; does not seem capable of electronic contact. Uses randomized and synthesized voices for verbal communication. ===Equipment=== Primary Weapon: Mass Vector Ordinance Projector (MVOP) [3|12] ---A high-accuracy handheld cannon which fires 80mm iron slugs embedded with depleted uranium. Highly effective against armored targets, but because the explosive splash radius is very low, a direct hit is imperative to dealing significant damage even to unarmored targets. Secondary Weapon: TACG48 Micro Assault Weapon [40|160] ---A rapid automatic weapon smaller than a carbine but larger than an SMG, the TACG48 packs a massive punch for its size and has highly controllable recoil. While it lacks both accuracy and stopping power at long ranges, it is highly deadly within fifty meters. Fires high-penetration Flechette rounds. Tertiary Weapon: "Fang" Blade ---A 13-inch long combat knife, the Fang is made of highly reinforced self-sharpening titanium carbide and is practically unbreakable. A serrated blade also lends it utility applications. ===Inventory=== -5,000 Universal Credits -UNADA PDA -Nanite Repair Pouch (3 of 3 uses) ---Capable of repairing most moderate damage with a single use. ===Ether=== Passive Abilities -Computerized Targeting (+1 to aiming at specific enemy vulnerabilities) -Feel No Pain (+1 to mitigating the effects of body damage) -Voice of the Legion (+1 to hacking computer systems) Techniques -Hunker Down ---Ether, Self: Interlocks armor and activates a 360 degree anti-ether shield, shielding Jotun from nearly all damage but massively reducing his movement speed and limiting his offensive capabilities. He looks up and realizes he is one spot away from the front of the line; within a minute, he's approving the transaction and watching with satisfaction as his fuel gauge rises. Soon, it's at 100%, and he pays a cool 100 credits for the fuel. ============================================= Appearance:Carson Beckett. ===Equipment=== Primary Weapon:Terracon Industries - SMG - 165b [60|180] Secondary Weapon:Terracon Industries - PL - 24A [7|35] Tertiary Weapon: Combat Knife ---Standard titanium combat knife with an 8-inch blade. ===Inventory=== Personal -1,900 Universal Credits -UNADA PDA Property -Old Single-Seater Freighter ---Fuel [100% of max capacity] ===Ether=== Passive Abilities -Anatomy (+1 to targeting specific points on humans) -Medical Shield (+1 to evasion when giving medical assistance) -Medic (+1 to medical assistance) Techniques -Healing Touch ---Life, Single: Heal another person at the cost of ether; extended healing will cause tiredness.
