Thanks Bombzero. Hopefully the stain I'm going to apply will really bring out the grain of the maple which can potentially look really good.

I guess I'll drop in a sketch since I posted

I beat super meat boy - 106%, all levels A+, all warp zones, all glitch levels. I have most achievements missing the "medium", "medium well", The kid's Xmas achievements, and all but the first "without dying" achievements.

That looks really cool. Did you just buy the blade like that?

When I get back to the states, I'll be building a forge and making a bearded axe. We'll se how that comes out, but if you made that blade yourself, then I'd like to hear how. I am not so good with forging, having never done it from scratch before.

Yes, the blade and wood was purchased online, I only added the gun-blue stain. I'm no blacksmith...yet...

Anyway, knife update, handle rounded, stained, and riveted

You may notice the rivet holes are somewhat roughly gouged, this is because I did not have the proper tool for countersinking the rivet head into the wood so I had to improvise with a chisel.

Epic work this, love the gravure style texturing/shading. If I had to criticise something, I'd say the shading on the bottom of the hat could be done differently. While the pattern is nice, I think the uniformity or ratio (horizontal to vertical) of it's lines don't imply curvature/perspective over that surface.

@Mackerel, nice, would make a good desktop background.
Also I perceive a person in that, I'm presuming you modified an existing image?

@madmax, has a real nice rustic look, woodworking was never my strongsuit, more a metal person.
Wish I still had some of the blades I made but a ~5 foot claymore, ~3 foot broadsword, and various small daggers aren't exactly on the list of things I'm legally supposed to have in my possession, barring certain types of purpose-licenses you can get here for blades, (artistic, historic, etc etc but that requires registering them and all that bull♥♥♥♥) So I had to get rid of them when we moved to the new place... I miss living in an actual house only because you can't really do metalworking in an apartment complex.

@Robolee: dat beard

it is the beard to end all beards

Also, golden god eh wot? Nice! I haven't even beaten SMB yet. :U
Lovely drawing too, perfectly illustrates what happens to Meat Boy 98,8% of the time when i play, heh.

also time to apply sharp contrast to robolee's and madmax's incredible work with

UGLY THICK-LINE DINOSAUR FACE

Implied lines are lovely things.

@Nonsequitorian: Thanks, it's not that yellow actually, just the lighting. And yeah, it's nothing extraordinary, I just wanted a nice utility knife for camping and such, because my Buck fixed blade is a bit on the large side.

@Adriaan: Thanks. I'm pleased you said that because I've tried to learn some of the hatching techniques some renaissance printmakers/etching use, they are a strong inspiration to me.

@Bombzero: Rustic is what I was aiming for, thanks.

One last shot with the finish applied and polished, axe thrown in for theme.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, you've been greatly supportive.

You can't modify existing images with raw fractals.

madmax is that hat wearing fellow Discworld inspired? Either way I love the style you've developed.

Also regarding my dwarf drawing (Gloin from the hobbit as seen in promo posters) there's a few problems with the darkness of the hair because all I had was HB. today I got a new clutch pencil and mechanical pencil, I got 2B lead @0.5mm for my mechanical and 4B lead @2mm for my clutch pencil. (the particular models are the rotring 300 and rotring 500). So I'm going to try another dwarf soon, Oin I think. I base the one I want to draw on the dwarven might of their beard.

I can see a blurry lump. Calling it a head, face and shoulders is a bit generous
You could probably see anything in there, it's like looking at shapes in clouds
