Longboarder Plague
I'm about to start up longboarding. If anyone here owns one, what would be a good beginner's board or parts setup? My budget is around $100-130.

Re: Thinking about a longboard
Mmm, depends which you plan on getting into. For instance, do you plan to cruise, freeride, or hit downhill?
Since you're planning to start, I suggest looking up a good cruise longboard and taking small tutorials.

I'm going to do cruising and downhill. Maybe later on when I get better I'll do freeriding too. If it's relevant, I weigh 127, and I'm 5'8".

Also wear wrist guards, I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ if you don't "think it's cool" or something, if you like to keep full function of your wrists and hands, do it.

Re: Thinking about a longboard
I got one of the big Sector 9 boards. When I bought it, unbeknownst to me, it ultimately was a heavy and durable downhill board. I used it for cruising anyways because why not. It's kind of collecting dust now after I forgot about it, and since I moved away from the apartment complex close to the parking garage I would ride in. I'm amazed I wasn't ever hit by a (moving) car there.

If I see you and I'm in a car, I'll likely do everything in my power to hit you.

I haven't been hit yet. Well, once I bombed a hill and I bailed at the base because I was going too fast. Board flew into a passing car.

Re: Thinking about a longboard
We have so many damn longboarders at my college. Before coming here I had never so much as heard of it. Now they are a plague.
