Re: Art Dump
Hey guys, noob question. If I want to start doing more doodles on paper, should I learn to draw by using a certain way like if it should be a pencil, pen, marker, etc.?

Use whatever you're most comfortable with if you're just getting started, or try something new if you're trying to expand your skills and experience. It's kind of up to you; there's no right way to do art.

Largely studied from http://www.wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=7930.0 with a little bit of emulated fiddling. Amazing art on the environments. No art is ripped, in case that's unclear, I used a similar technique to their art for the trees though (4x4 meta-canopy tileset, though mine is 4x5 because I'm not as leet) Characters in this break GBC restrictions because ♥♥♥♥ the police. Its not GBC res either. Time: 3 hours 40min on and off over the day. Emogotsaone wrote: Hey guys, noob question. Pencil is a better all rounder and you can remove mistakes, pen is good for quick stuff where you want a crisp line and cbf shading, and dont care about mistakes.

Re: Art Dump
Not bad, cool looking dude Face structure looks alright. I can't quite see due to the angle and lack of experience myself, but I think the eyes might be a bit close together, and not on the same height (judging by the monocle on the other side, the middle of it isn't on the same level). Ear doesn't look bad to me. The eyes/nose/mouth, general face area of a head is mostly if not always what grabs your attention first so it's important to focus on those areas. I don't see much shading going on apart from beneath the beard, just indication of local value. I don't know what program you're using to draw in but for shading large areas you could use a larger brush size or fill tool, either at varying opacity or varying values of gray (or any colours you're working with). If you want/have to stay with the line based shading then increase and decrease the density (and probably try varying opacity/value) of the lines when there is more shadow or more light respectively.
