Re: ): cortex problems.
Did you change any of your keybinding settings prior to getting this error?

i installed APOLOCALLIPSE or whatever, that involves some keybinding i believe, but i reinstalled cortex and it did it again as soon as i reinstalled unitec and things back.

Re: ): cortex problems.
Try grabbing settings.ini from a clean install of Cortex Command and then paste it on top of the one you have already.

Well I don't have CC installed or access to my CD key so that's about all the help I can provide at the moment.

Re: ): cortex problems.
I don't know how applicable this is anymore, but in the olden days you could get really weird crashes if you leave Cortex Command in the default directory. I'd try reinstalling to your desktop or user folder.
It also isn't necessarily settings.ini, there could be a corrupted file or broken line in a file that's loaded before settings.ini that causes the game to crash. Cortex Command's bug finding isn't perfect.

Re: ): cortex problems.
OK, now even the newly formed version is fried, i cant start it even when i make a fresh install. The game is broken now, i can point fingers at whoever made unofficial mod updates, i downloaded Apolocalypse and exited from hitting Esc twice. So warning to anyone that wants that mod. EDIT: WTF, i started it as an admin and it ran..anyone know why this is happening?

Re: ): cortex problems.
Cortex Command occasionally fails to write out the entire Settings.ini file when it's in Program Files. When you go to play it the next time, the game chokes because there's only half of a settings file. There's not much you can do about it other than to install it somewhere else or try running it as an administrator.

What's this doing in Off Topic anyway? Surely it should be up in Game & Licensing Support?

Re: ): cortex problems.
Are you by chance using Windows Vista / 7? If so it may be caused by a new feature called Virtual Store which puts files into a hidden folder instead of putting them in the program files folder. It is located here: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore. Hope this helps.
